    SUMMARY/SCOPE:


    The primaryresponsibility of this position is to assist in the management of the women'sbasketball program including assisting with on court coaching, recruitment ofqualified prospective student-athletes, travel planning, scouting opponents,academic supervision, film exchange, fundraising efforts, community outreachprojects, team promotion and other daily projects as assigned by the HeadCoach.

    HSU is a member of NCAA Division III and the American SouthwestConference. This is a full-time staff position.




    HSU JOB FAMILY CLASSIFICATION INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING:





    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


    Coaching:
    On court practice and game assistance.

    Recruiting:

    Telephone calls, attendance at tournaments and games as well asletters and written correspondence to potential student athletes / planning andexecuting campus visits for recruits.


    Travel Planning:
    Arranging lodging, buses, meals, and practice times atopponent sites.

    Prepare scouting reports.

    Assist with camps and clinics.

    Organize community outreach projects.

    Assist with fundraising efforts.

    Academic Supervision:
    Monitor study hall and perform grade checks.

    Film Exchange:
    online according to rules of the American SouthwestConference.

    Oversee laundry operation.

    Perform other duties as assigned.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES (Language, Mathematical, Reasoning and Computer Skills):

    LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safetyrules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Abilityto write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectivelybefore groups of customers or employees of organization.


    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add,subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers,common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent andto draw and interpret bar graphs.


    REASONINGABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts,and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety oftechnical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with severalabstract and concrete variables.


    COMPUTER SKILLS: Toperform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of WordProcessing software, Spreadsheet software and Synergy editing system.


    EDUCATION/


    EXPERIENCE:


    Must have a bachelor's degree in any discipline. Musthave basketball coaching or playing experience at the high school and/orcollege level.

    Previous recruiting experience with evaluation,relationship building, and recruitment of student-athletes required.

    Must have proficient computer skills, strong workethic and effective communication skills.

    Must also have excellent organizational skills ascandidates will be required to provide examples of their ability to plan andorganize.

    The above requirements will be validated throughthe written competencies provided by the applicant in addition to the interviewprocess and reference checks regarding past employment experience, etc.


    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

    Current CPR, AED, and First Aid certificationsrequired (or must be obtained).

    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:


    This is a full time, Exempt Level Staff Position which oftenrequires extended hours beyond a 40-hour work week, especially duringbasketball season and while recruiting.

    Frequent overnight travel is required, including eveningsand weekends, especially during basketball season.

    Occasionally holiday work is also required dependingon game/practice schedule.

    Additional travel may be required on occasion toattend training workshops on occasion.

    Must have andmaintain a valid Class C Driver's License and maintain a clear driving recordto be insurable under the university liability policy.

    Must be able to drive tocomplete work assignments on and off campus, as needed.
