    RESPONSIBLEFOR:

    Meets and greets patients, obtainsappropriate patient information and medical history, accuratelycompletes and documents patient medical and physical histories andother related items in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).


    • Records vital signs; performs EKG, spirometry and orother similar office procedures; aids licensed staff duringtreatment, examination, and or testing of patients, which mayinclude injections and immunizations. Advises physician and ornurse of patient's adverse reaction to medication and/or treatmentto medication and/or treatment.

    Performs lab duties,including but not limited to:
    phlebotomy, order entry, specimencollection, establishes chain of custody if applicable, and labelsfor delivery to appropriate authority for testing.

    • Under the supervision of a licensed personnel, distributeseducational information and instructions for patient care,diagnostics, and other appropriate treatments.
    • Coordinates telephone and in-basket requests to refill prescriptiondrug medications and report test results in accordance withprovider instructions; responds accordingly to other requests undera physician or other licensed provider's guidance.
    • Prepares and maintains examination/treatment rooms, includinginventory of supplies and equipment.
    • PracticesStandard Precautions, including handwashing and disposal ofbio-hazardous materials; complies with established risk management,HIPAA, and safety procedures.
    • Attends requiredmeetings, in-services, and participates in committees as required.
    • Assist with administrative duties as needed, toinclude procedure scheduling and completion of medical and physicalhistory forms and other related information requested by thirdparty payors.
    • Other duties asassigned.

    Qualifications:
    MINIMUMEDUCATION REQUIRED:

    High School diploma or GEDrequired.

    Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant programaccredited through the Commission on Accreditation of Allied HealthEducation Programs (CAAHEP); or the Accrediting Bureau of HealthEducation Schools (ABHES); or similarly recognized accreditingorganization or completion of a Nursing Assistant program isrequired.

    MINIMUM EXPERIENCEREQUIRED:

    None.

    MINIMUMLICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BYLAW:

    None

    ADDITIONALQUALIFICATIONS:

    BLS required. Certification fromthe American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or asimilarly recognized certifying organization required.
