    Title: Human Resources Generalist I

    Reports to: Human Resources Manager

    Status: Exempt

    Summary:

    Applies human resources expertise, in a business setting, to provide a wide range of HR support. The ideal candidate will play a key role in the success of the organization by offering support with including, but not limited to, recruitment, leave of absences (LOA), performance management, employee relations, HRIS, training and HR best practices while facilitating a positive relationship between personnel and senior management.

    This position requires solid organizational, analytical skills, with a focus on attention to detail, with strong generalist background in Human Resources.

    Duties/Responsibilities:

    • Provides direct support to Human Resources team
    • Facilitates the hiring process by screening viable candidates for open positions and the onboarding of new hires
    • Uses communication skills to report updates to the hiring managers and viable candidates
    • Handles Employee Relations investigations and documents such matters
    • Provide high-quality advice and customer service to management on daily employee relations and performance issues. Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations
    • Troubleshoots and handle HRIS system inquiries/requests
    • Contacts employees on LOA and requests follow up certifications monthly
    • Updates all HR trackers such as employee relations and leave of absence logs
    • Assists with annual compliance filings such as ACA, Worker's Compensation claims, EEO-1 reporting, OSHA Form 300, 300a and 301 and other relative HR reports
    • Processes bi-weekly 403(b) transmissions of Contributions & Loan payments to 403b record keeper
    • Assists Executive Director and ensure annual 5500 filing to IRS
    • Assists with the implementation and administration of employee policies
    • Collaborates with the HR Team in implementing programs to help improve the employee experience
    • Performs routine tasks required to administer including, but not limited to, disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, morale and occupational health and safety, etc.
    • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and procedures
    • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law
    • Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and aptitude exams and certifications.
    • Handles FMLA, PFL and Short-Term Disability requests and claims
    • Also serves as a back up to the HR Generalist II team members during absence
    • Performs other duties as assigned

    Required Skills/Abilities:

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
    • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills needed. Must be a team player
    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail a must
    • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines necessary
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills needed
    • Integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality are required
    • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations a must
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software needed
    • HRIS and talent management systems experience is a must. ADP Workforce Now experienced preferred

    Education and Experience:

    • Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field required
    • 3+ years of human resource management experience preferred
    • SHRM-CP a plus

    Physical Requirements:

    • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
    • Must be able to lift to 10 pounds at times
    • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities
