    Systems Administrator II

    Narrative Job Summary:

    Network and subsystem administration, testing, implementation, evaluation, design, and troubleshooting of military intelligent, surveillance, reconnaissance (ISR) systems as well as target acquisition. The ability to integrate new hardware, network, and software subsystems to baseline configurations and provide detailed documentation of the process. Data dissemination to internal subsystems and external networks. Provide support for day-to-day operations of system subsystems in a test environment.

    Major Work Responsibilities:

    • Ability to configure switches, firewall and routers.
    • Basic Network design, redesign, and maintain.
    • Basic knowledge of network and serial data flow.
    • The ability to implement new network designs to current system baselines.
    • Test and evaluation of new subsystems and implementation to baseline configurations.
    • Ability to create and follow a robust test report and procedures.
    • Root Cause analysis of baseline system defects, hardware, and software.
    • Administer Windows Active Directory, Group Policies, and Certificate Services.
    • Administer Microsoft SQL servers.
    • Manage network storage devices (SAN / NAS)
    • Manage the private PKI infrastructure.
    • Manage the single-sign-on and smart card sign-on services.
    • Install, modify, enhance, test, and implement standard and test configurations for deployment of workstations, servers, and subsystem components for testing and deployment.
    • Troubleshoot issues dealing with systems/network and subsystems, identify/analyze root causes, and implement corrective actions.
    • Perform preventive maintenance actions including system back-ups, error log reviews, and database size integrity checks.

    Supporting Work Responsibilities:

    • Review engineering specifications and design review documents
    • Support manager and testing engineer to distribute information and release version to customer.
    • Provide support to customer and staff to duplicate and document hardware/software anomalies.
    • Read and create engineering drawings.
    • Assist with training, documentation, and become certified on the surveillance system.
    • Review Field Modification Procedures for implementation to TM's
    • Review and evaluate previously existing training materials
    • Support engineers with testing of prototype systems and pre-released software.
    • The ability to organize and attend meetings.
    • The ability to create and follow an integrated master schedule (IMS) for testing & engineering projects.
    • Interact with clients and vendors as part of engineering and administration activities, such as customer support, technical, and operational integration and system maintenance.
    • Coordinate and manage diverse technical support task.
    • Maintain high satisfaction (both internal and external) through successful and timely resolution of technical problems.
    • Submit regular status updates and reports to customer and supervisor.
    • Perform helpdesk related duties and provide on-call support.
    • Assist with special projects and installments as assigned.
    • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

    Expected core competencies:

    • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Server and PC Operating Systems
    • Familiar with Linux Operating Systems
    • Demonstrate strong and effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite products such as Teams, Project, Power Point, Excel and Outlook.
    • Updating and Using Relevant Knowledge — Keeping up-to-date technically and applying new knowledge to your job.
    • Use technical information in operation and maintenance activities
    • Use latest information in the field of training techniques and technologies

    Job location is at Yuma Proving Grounds, Yuma.

    Qualifications:

    • Must have at least five years of experience including systems administration, network, testing, and system integration.
    • Required certifications:
    • CompTIA A+
    • Security+ (Required within 90 days of hire)
    • Additional certifications a plus: MCP, MCSA, Network+, CCNA
    • Related military training and/or job experience is a plus
    • Candidate will be required to attend training and become certified on the surveillance asset
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite products such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Microsoft Teams.
    • Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

    May substitute some education requirements with a combination of education and experience provided course work is still in process of being completed and is within 18 months of completion.

    Position will be based in Yuma, AZ at least Monday-Thursday 10-12 hours per day with occasional work from home remotely. Military housing provided free for employee while in Yuma.
