    Description
    Duties * Conduct inspections of runways, taxiways, and aircraft parking aprons.

    * Initiate emergency action checklists for the following: severe weather warnings, overdue aircraft search and rescue procedures, in-flight or ground emergencies, natural disasters, etc.

    * Process a variety of flight plans in support of NCR, Presidential support and congressional delegates.

    * Submit and ensure publication of Notices to Airman (NOTAM) pertaining to Davison Army Airfield and the most complex airspace system in the CONUS that includes Special Flight Restriction Area (SFRA) and Flight Restricted Zone (FRZ).

    * Provide detailed assistance to military pilots and pilots of private, foreign, and contract aircraft in planning route of flight, preparation of flight plans and flight computations, and obtaining a clearance to fly in controlled airspace.

    * Provide airport advisory services to aircraft landing, and departing or operating in vicinity of the airport advisory area during the hours the ATCT is closed through UHF, VHF and FM radios.

    Requirements Conditions of Employment * Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.

    * This is a Non-sensitive, Moderate Risk (Public Trust) position. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust (T2) security clearance.

    * This is a drug testing position, and you must pass urinalysis testing as required prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.

    Must sign DA Form 5019-R. * Must possess and maintain a current, valid State-issued driver's license. * Must be able to possess and maintain a U.S. Government Motor Vehicle Operator's Identification Card/license. * Must submit to a physical before employment.

    Must have good vision (cannot be colorblind), must be able to climb stairs, must have clear speech, and must possess good hearing.

    In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/ or experience requirements described below.

    Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).

    You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

    One year of specialized experience which includes monitoring daily activities of an Airfield Base Operations Facility and conducting airfield inspections and checks.

    This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).


    OR Education :

    Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree, such as: Business Administration, Traffic Management, Transportation, or other fields related to the position.

    OR Combination of Education and Experience :

    A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.

    To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12.

    Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18.

    Add the two percentages. (Must include transcripts in application package.)

    GS-11 Specialized Experience:

    One year of specialized experience which includes monitoring daily activities of an Airfield Base Operations Facility, reviewing and coordinating landing requests, conducting airfield inspections and checks, or providing flight services.

    This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

    Ph.

    D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree, such as: Business Administration, Traffic Management, Transportation, or other fields related to the position.

    OR Combination of Education and Experience :

    A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.

    To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12.

    Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18.

    Add the two percentages. (Must include transcripts in application package.)

    Grade Requirement:

    Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent as indicated above.
