RESPONSIBLE FOR:

The anesthesia technician's role is to assistlicensed anesthesia providers in the acquisition, preparation andapplication of the equipment and supplies required for theadministration of anesthesia.

In this role, they contribute to safeefficient and cost-effective anesthesia care. Anesthesiatechnicians provide support in anesthesia for routine and complexsurgical cases. These types of cases include all organ transplantsas well as cardiac procedures. They provide this service bypreparing and maintaining patient monitoring devices and anesthesiadelivery systems before, during and after anesthesia. They alsoassist the licensed anesthesia provider with the transport,positioning, insertion of intravenous and other invasive lines, andairway management.

Qualifications:


MINIMUM EDUCATIONREQUIRED:

High School Graduate orequivalent.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCEREQUIRED:

Two years experience asan:

Anesthesia Technician, EMT, Paramedic, DeliveryRoom/Surgical Tech, Endoscopy Tech, or Hospital PharmacyTech.

MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONREQUIRED BY LAW:

American Heart AssociationBLS Certification

ADDITIONALQUALIFICATIONS:

Certified anesthesiatechnician (Cer.
A.T.) or equivalent certification preferred.
