    The Transitional Studies unit includes the college's ABE, ESL, I-BEST, High School+, GED, CEO, and LCN programs and supports students-including many historically underserved/marginalized, first generation, and ELL students-to successfully navigate and archive their academic and career goals. The programs within this unit support students with varying backgrounds and educational pathways, including learning English, getting a high school diploma or GED, taking college-level classes, or preparing for a career. Working within Transitional Studies requires a commitment to pluralism and equity as well as fostering an environment of inclusiveness among students, faculty, and staff.

    This part-time position is under the direction of the Transitional Studies Program Manager and would involve supporting the administrative functions of the Transitional Studies department and its programs. Among other things, this includes assisting with outreach and communication, student inquiries and concerns, CASAS testing, and being the lead on Washington Basic Education Reporting System (WABERS) data entry and reporting processes for the unit.

    Essential Job Duties
    • Provide general administrative support for Transitional Studies
    • Data entry and review via WABERs reporting system
    • Assist with student outreach and onboarding
    • Communicate with Transitional Studies students, staff, and faculty
    • Proctor CASAS Testing
    • Address new and continuing student inquiries
    • Assist students with other items as needed
    • Other duties as assigned
    Qualifications

    REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
    • High school graduation OR equivalent
    • Two (2) years of experience in the program specialty OR equivalent education/experience
    KNOWLEDGE OF/ SKILL IN:
    • Fostering a climate of equity and belonging through multicultural awareness and responsiveness
    • Ability to professionally interact with a diverse population of students, staff and faculty
    • Ability to work calmly under pressure and deal effectively with upset individuals
    • Reliability, punctuality and ability to use discretion in decision making processes
    • Ability to work individually and as a team member to provide excellent customer service
    • Ability to effectively communicate in both oral and written English
    • Knowledge of WABERS or other state/federal reporting systems
    • Microsoft Office Access, Excel, Teams, SharePoint, Outlook, PowerPoint and Word programs
    Conditions of Employment

    PHYSICAL WORK ENVIRONMENT:
    • Ability to meet the physical demands of sitting for prolonged periods of time at a desk/computer workstation, using repetitive arm, hand and finger movements.
    • Ability to work in an open office setting with frequent in-person interaction and numerous interruptions, work under pressure, and handle multiple tasks/prioritize competing demands.
    • Ability to read printed materials and a computer screen.
    TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT/SALARY: These positions may work full or part-time on an on call basis, for periods of one week to six months, to fill in for permanent staff absences. As an hourly on-call position, there is no predictability or guarantee of the number of hours/days that may be scheduled. Hourly employees maintain an "at-will" employment relationship meaning that either you or the College may terminate the employment relationship at any time, for any reason. Hiring of this position is contingent upon available funding as determined by the College President.
