    The University of Iowa's College of Dentistry is looking for Support Services Specialist to join the Pediatric Dentistry department. Individual will assist the Operating Room (OR) coordinator across multiple UIHC/SFCH disciplines/settings. This would be for pediatric and special needs adult patients receiving dental treatment under general anesthesia (GA).     Responsibilities:

    • Schedule pediatric and special needs adult patients for GA/OR dental treatment and prerequisite appointments.

    • Provide financial counseling to patient and caregivers.

    • Assist in coordinating insurance authorizations and billings.

    • Assist with billing and documentation for treatments.

    • Assist in managing electronic systems and updating schedules.

    • Handle communications with patients, caregivers, and insurance companies.

    • Support the COHUP program by assisting patients and practitioners.

    • Support Graduate Medical Education requirements through Med Hub.

    Support Services Coordinator - PVD1

    Salary: $48,964 (Paygrade: 3A)

    Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm

    May require occasional overtime.

    Work Location: On-Site

    Required Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

    • Experience scheduling multiple providers in a healthcare environment.

    • Medical insurance billing/coding (CPT/ICD/HCPCS), verification, and preauthorization/predetermination experience.

    • Patient management program experience (Ex: Epic, Smartweb, AxiUm, MedHub, IDX/GE).

    • Working knowledge of medical terminology.

    • Extensive knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, email, and calendar applications (e.g. Microsoft Office, Google, Teams).

    • Adaptability, troubleshooting, and prioritization skills.

    • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

    • Excellent customer service experience.

    Highly Desirable:

    • Experience scheduling multiple providers in an OR setting.

    • Experience coordinating procedures across multiple medical/dental disciplines.

    • Experience with grant management (e.g. , applications, reports).

    • Dental insurance billing/coding (CDT), verification, and preauthorization/predetermination experience.

    • Experience with patient financial counseling.

    Desirable:

    • Bilingual (English and ideally Spanish, French, Arabic).

    • Experience with pediatric patients and their caregivers.

    • Knowledge of University of Iowa/UIHC/SFCH policies/procedures/program systems.
