    Job Summary

    This Catastrophe Property Claims Adjuster role involves exercising independent judgment to handle all types of catastrophe property claims. You'll work from home within our ERIE Operating Footprint, which spans multiple states. The position requires frequent travel away from home, with opportunities to grow and advance within our award-winning company.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Establish immediate contact with policyholders regarding their loss, driving to the site of damage as needed.
    • Sets and manages adequate reserves within designated authority.
    • Properly identifies and assesses damage, determining liability and total claim value.
    • Prepares accurate estimates and negotiates with contractors and policyholders as required.
    • Documents claim files and submits final reports for closure.
    • Determines or declines payment, issuing checks as necessary.

    Qualifications

    A high school diploma or equivalent is required, along with five years of claims handling experience, including two years of property claims handling experience. Strong technical knowledge of structural damage repair and valuation techniques is essential. An Associate in Claims (AIC) program completion and proficiency in estimating software are preferred.

    Physical Requirements

    The role requires:

    • Lifting/moving objects up to 50 lbs
    • Frequent driving
    • Climbing/accessing heights (moderate frequency)
