    Application Engineering Internship


    We are looking for a dynamic, energetic intern who is eager to learn about Waystar and the healthcare payments industry.

    The ideal candidate will be looking to enhance their career and expand their skill set.

    This unique experience will provide insight into a dynamic ever-changing and evolving industry, coupled with the opportunity to join a great company like Waystar.

    Working knowledge of C#, .Net, MS SQL Server, Javascript and/or any object-oriented design is a plus. But if you're missing one of those and you're eager to learn, we'll teach you what you need to know


    The Waystar Engineering Team is looking for an eager, engaged intern to do work on our Comms product, specifically around automating manual testing, API creation, and service development.

    Comms – Automated Testing, API Creation, and Service Development


    WHAT YOU'LL DO
    General Intern Responsibilities

    Understand and live our values

    Attend meetings and professional development training

    Fulfill tasks set out by manager from your respective department

    Perform in-depth research and analysis as needed

    Adhere to deadlines

    Assist with reports and tasks as assigned

    Must be able to work 20-30 hours a week

    Complete final project and present project to manager, buddy, and others


    Application Engineering Internship Responsibilities:
    Increase the efficiency of our engineering team by adding new and updating existing tests in our automated test suite using Selenium, removing the need for manual testing

    Using containers (Kubernetes), create a new Application Programming Interface (API) to allow other applications, both internally and externally, to more easily access and work with Comms data

    Create a new backend service to periodically review data in our Comms Alerts tables and send appropriate notification emails

    Convert our existing Realtime Service Tool to be web-based, using APIs and containers (Kubernetes).


    WHAT YOU'LL NEED


    Requirements:


    Languages:
    C#, .Net, Javascript


    Database:
    MS SQL Server


    Deployment:
    Internal Deployment tools, Kubernetes, On-Perm, AWS

    Deployment Tools:
    Azure DevOps (ADO), JIRA

    0-3 years' experience

    Basic understanding of programming concepts

    Can code in one or more general purpose programming languages; C# and .NET programming languages are preferred

    Experience with SQL

    Experience with infrastructure components such as servers, networking, load balancers, and MQ preferred

    Excellent written and verbal communication skills

    Ability to work in a very fast-paced environment & welcome change

    Highly self-motivated

    Ability to work both in team and solo environments

    Additional

    Requirements:

    2nd Semester Junior or Senior

    3.2 or above GPA

    Actively involved on campus and/or community


    Majors/Minors:
    Open

    Interest in healthcare and/or technology

    Curiosity to go deeper into the projects given

    Ability to adapt and pivot with competing priorities and/or deadlines

    Excellent verbal and written communication skills

    Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Powerpoint, etc.)
