    Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) invites applications for a full-time Assistant Director of Faculty Development to join our Academics department as part of the CREATE (Community-focused Real-world Engagement in Academics Through Experiential-learning) Institute at MSOE. The CREATE Institute focuses on faculty, student, and community programming to ensure that all MSOE graduates embody the MSOE Mindset. Under the direction of the Director of the CREATE Institute, the Assistant Director of Faculty Development is responsible for strengthening and implementing a comprehensive faculty development program, which includes onboarding, mentoring, continuing education programming, and Community of Practice working groups for both full-time and part-time faculty.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities
    • Support the success of the Common Learning Outcome/Mindset Integration Grant through faculty development programming and quality assurance of faculty deliverables
    • Continuously improve and facilitate on-boarding program for new faculty
    • Continuously improve and facilitate mentoring program for new faculty
    • Continuously improve, manage, and facilitate various Communities of Practice for faculty
    • Continuously improve and facilitate comprehensive faculty development workshop series for both new and existing faculty
    • Manage external consultants as needed to contribute to comprehensive faculty development programming
    • Provide leadership and resources to help faculty leverage industry partnerships to effectively use real-world experiential learning and Entrepreneurial Minded Learning pedagogy
    • Identify and organize online resources, webinars, conferences, and workshops to share with faculty via an online platform and newsletter
    Other Duties & Responsibilities
    • Support the CREATE Team in continuously improving, facilitating, and assessing a high-impact learning program into all four years of MSOE's undergraduate curriculum
    • Support the CREATE Team in continuously improving, facilitating, and assessing orientation week activities for students, staff, and faculty, which support fostering the growth of the MSOE Mindset
    • Travel to conferences, workshops, and exemplar programs to gain insight into best practices and leverage existing resources (approximately two trips per year)
    • Support the Associate Vice President of Academic Success and Institutional Effectiveness in efforts to assess institutional metrics
    • Serve on various institutional committees, task groups, councils, boards, and teams as a representative of the CREATE Institute as needed
    • Work collaboratively with all university personnel to promote CREATE Institute programming and MSOE's shared purpose (mission, vision, values, and mindset)
    • Other duties as assigned by the Executive VP of Academics and/or Director of the CREATE Institute

    Qualifications
    • Master's degree required (PhD preferred)
    • Minimum of 5 years of work experience in adult education
    • Applied knowledge of high-impact learning pedagogy is mandatory
    • Prior experience teaching in higher education
    • An understanding of the Entrepreneurial Mindset and KEEN Framework is preferred
    Skills and Abilities
    • Exceptional written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
    • Outstanding project management, problem-solving, and organizational skills
    • Ability to make decisions independently and work with minimal supervision
    • Knowledge of programs offered by MSOE is helpful
    • Proficient in multiple technology platforms/tools, including Microsoft 365
    • Ability to maintain effective working relationships and function within a team
    • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships throughout campus
    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
    • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
    • Ability to speak effectively before others.
    • Ability to effectively communicate in both written and oral form.
    • Ability to use numbers to solve problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations.
    • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out written or oral instructions.
    • Knowledge of the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning in Education
    Physical Demands

    While performing the duties of this job the employee is largely sedentary, the ability to move is required. The employee is occasionally required to traverse within their work area as well as other areas on campus.

    Work Environment

    This job operates in a professional office environment. This role uses standard office equipment, including but not limited to computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
