    The New Jersey Division is very excited to announce a great career opportunity for a Transportation Finance Specialist position.

    We are looking for a motivated individual who has the skills and abilities to effectively represent the agency to Federal, State, and Local officials and the public.

    New Jersey State has a long history in transportation including the following:


    New Jersey has 38,131 miles (61,366 km) of roads managed by state, county, and municipal governments (and toll road authorities).

    The main thoroughfare for long-distance travel is the New Jersey Turnpike , the nation's fifth-busiest toll road.

    New Jersey is the only state which prohibits customers from pumping gasoline at gas stations, as a result, all gas stations are either full service or minimum service .

    As a

    Transportation Finance Specialist

    , you will:


    Work with the Transportation Finance Manager to implement and conduct financial management system reviews and evaluations of the State DOT and local governments.

    Analyze financial reimbursement areas, develop reimbursement procedures, and recommend policies for the Division Office.

    Review and make recommendations for approval of reimbursement claims, project agreement modifications, advance construction conversions, and conduct the final review and approval of final project claims.

    Serve as a technical advisor for FHWA division personnel and State DOT employees on various phases of auditing.

    Promote teamwork and the exchange of ideas between FHWA and State and local governments in the conduct of the Financial Integrity Review and Evaluation (FIRE) program.
