- Evaluate the current health and condition of their patient's teeth to determine diagnosis of dental condition, if any.
- Inform their patients on how to prevent dental problems and keep their teeth and mouth as healthy as possible.
- Complete treatment on affected gums, decayed and fractured teeth, and performs tooth removal for cases where there are high levels of decay.
- Consider treatment methods and explain the options with the patient to determine which works best for them based on their situation.
- Keep all equipment functional and clean.
- Maintain dental files for all patients.
- Monitor and evaluate any x-ray images for any part of the patient's oral cavity,
- Refer patients to orthodontists or other dental specialist for more advanced procedures and car
- Must also be able to respect the culture, values and opinions of others.
- Assist with agency fundraising activities as requested, including promoting events, selling tickets, soliciting donations, and other tasks to support events.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of dental/dentist procedures.
- Ability to orally communicate effectively with others, with or without the use of an interpreter.
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing using the English language, with or without the use of auxiliary aids or services.
- Ability to review, understand, and apply concepts presented in training programs, conferences, and/or professional literature.
- Clear understanding that FoundCare provides information on educating individuals on safer sex practices, which would include but not be limited to, exposure to explicit language, explicit printed material, and descriptions of explicit sexual activities as part of the agency's mission in the prevention and transmission of HIV disease.
- Need to travel to off-site locations and attend meetings, workshops, seminars plus travel to other FoundCare departments and FoundCare conference rooms.
- Accomplish job duties using various types of equipment/supplies, e.g.
- pens, pencils, calculators, computer keyboard, telephone, etc.
- Graduated from a 4-year dental school program.
- Must be licensed to practice.
- Responsible for preventative and restorative oral procedures.
- Work with dental hygienists and dental assistants.
- PC Proficient.
- Must possess superior communication/patience skills and have a thorough and methodical approach.
- Ability to work long hours, often under pressure.
- Possess good ethical grounding and team-working skills.
- Good interpersonal skills to maintain effective rapport with patients, dentists, other staff members and community.
- Possess excellent verbal/written communication skills to communicate with patients and staff, which include superior telephone etiquette.
