- Makes and repairs wooden supply, storage, and shipping containers such as boxes, crates, etc., which typically require complete custom building involving complex construction plans and work procedures.
- Secures freight such as heavy, unbalanced machinery, vehicles, and equipment; industrial plant equipment; artillery; oddshaped containers; large explosive bombs, rockets, and missiles; nuclear materials (., reactor materials); sensitive electronic equipment; large communication shelters; and similar cargo in a variety of containers and inside or upon conveyances such as ships, aircraft, vans, gondola cars, box cars, and barges.
- Performs a wide variety of standard and specialized preservation and/or packing work. Uses various protective cushioning and bracing techniques for custom packing of a variety of items including hazardous materials to ensure safe and damage free movement.
- Operates electric, LPG, or dieselpowered forklifts capable of lifting loads weighing less than 10,000 pounds as high as 168 inches to facilitate loading and unloading duties.
- Uses and maintains various types of hand and/or power tools, such as nail and staple guns; hand, radial, and circular saws; hammers, joiners, and squares; etc. Performs duties in a safe manner, utilizing safety practices and procedures, and complying with established safety rules and regulations.
