    Description

    As the lead communication strategist for the Enterprise Wireless Alliance (EWA), the Senior Manager is responsible for owning -- creating, implementing, and driving -- the overall communications and outreach strategies in support of the Alliance's activities, products, and services. In addition, they will create and manage a public relations strategy that will identify, create, and manage relationships with trade and national media, allied organizations, opinion leaders and influencers to build and enhance EWA's reputation for high quality, reliability, and customer satisfaction. As an integral member of the leadership team, the Senior Manager reports to the President/CEO.

    The ideal candidate is a creative, strategic thinker with exceptional writing, editing, verbal and organizational skills, particularly with a background in regulatory topics within a technology industry. The communications professional must be adept at working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment with the ability to juggle multiple priorities while advancing EWA's mission. With a keen understanding of the priorities important to those in the telecommunications industry, they must be able to proactively pitch stories to various media outlets including trade and national publications. Candidates should have strong experience with a wide range of communication platforms such as email, press releases, newsletters, trade publications, social media, speech writing, developing web content, blogs, etc. They will have experience developing metrics to ensure external communication efforts are reaching appropriate audiences and that EWA is viewed as the thought leader on issues relating to land mobile (two-way) radio and wireless telecommunications.

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Develop, execute, and manage all corporate communications strategies to promote the value of EWA to current and potential members by ensuring that EWA products and services effectively reach their target audiences;
    • Research, write, and issue editorials, articles, press releases, email announcements, social media posts, planned publications such as member bulletins and biweekly newsletter, talking points, webinars, executive presentations, website content, intranet, video, special projects, advertising and promotional channels, and assignments in support of all sales, marketing, and advocacy efforts;
    • Serve as chief editor of all EWA publications including Enterprise Wireless InsiderTM;
    • Collaborate with CEO on critical outreach initiatives including receiving and vetting all speaking opportunities;
    • Conceive, develop, and implement programs to deliver internal and external communications objectives throughout the organization;
    • Create and manage a communication strategy that will enhance EWA's positive brand and reputation in the land mobile (two-way) radio industry and assure that the Alliance stays "on message" with all communications;
    • Cultivate and manage relationships with trade and national media, and coordinate interviews for senior staff with the media to maximize media opportunities;
    • Create and develop EWA's annual report for distribution by end of first quarter;
    • Manage the planning and implementation of the annual conference, including session and speaker development, creation of associated marketing and event printed materials, and collaboration on event promotion. Requirements
      • At least five years experience in a similar role.
      • Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, marketing, English, or related field. Understands the mechanics and rules of good writing, and applies them to fit the audience and objective.
      • Must be a strategic leader with highly developed writing, editing, and organizational skills including experience writing press releases, marketing materials, annual reports, articles, editorials, talking points, and speeches.
      • Successful experience developing and owning all aspects of a strategic communications plan, including outreach to trade publications and national print and broadcast media, social media activities including content development and posting, and search engine optimization.
      • Has successfully built and cultivated positive, collaborative relationships with all stakeholders including media organizations, internal staff, members, and external organizations.
      • Is creative, proactive, entrepreneurial, collaborative, flexible, energetic, and strategic are indispensable traits for the successful candidate.
      • Telecommunications industry or technology-focused trade association experience strongly desired. Herndon office attendance is required for a minimum of three days per week.
