    Position: Assistant EHS Specialist
    Location: West Point, PA
    Duration: 12 Months

    Job Summary:

    We are seeking a dedicated EHS Specialist - I (Assistant) to join our Global Safety and Environment team at our West Point site. In this role, you will work under management direction to support projects and programs ensuring compliance with environmental, health, and safety (EHS) regulations. Your work will involve integrating EHS programs into daily operations, providing safety guidance, and assisting with compliance efforts across the site.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Hazard Assessments: Conduct hazard assessments, process hazard analysis, and life safety reviews to identify and mitigate risks in daily operations.
    • Incident Investigations: Assist in conducting incident investigations to identify root causes and recommend preventive measures.
    • Compliance Review: Review processes, facilities, procedures, and management of change documents to ensure conformance to EHS regulations and guidelines.
    • Support and Guidance: Provide support to client groups by assisting with injury/illness analysis, training, self-assessments, and addressing EHS-related concerns.
    • Policy and Training Development: Develop and review EHS procedures, guidelines, and training programs to enhance safety and compliance.
    • Departmental EHS Committees: Support the formation and sustained performance of action-oriented departmental EHS committees.
    • Regulatory Compliance: Assist with completing regulatory submissions, notifications, and other requirements to maintain compliance with federal, state, and local EHS regulations.

    Qualifications:

    • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Safety, Environmental Science, or a related technical discipline preferred; an Associate's Degree with relevant experience may be considered.
    • Experience: 0-5 years of applied professional EHS work experience; co-op, internship, or real-world EHS experience is preferred.
    • Critical Skills: Strong critical thinking, communication, problem-solving, and project management skills.
    • Organization and Analytical Skills: Highly organized with strong analytical abilities.
    • Communication: Strong interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills.
    • Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Outlook.

    Preferred Skills:

    • High Risk Work Familiarity: Familiarity with "high risk work" such as lockout/tagout, line break, confined space, energized electrical, and hot work.
    • Professional Certifications: Relevant professional certifications such as ASP, GSP, or CHO are heavily preferred.
