    BALER

    The Baler, working out of our South San Francisco warehouse, produces bales of unsalvageable and recyclable goods from donation flow according to safety and production standard. This includes the physical maintenance of all baling and material handling equipment used in the salvage and recycling operation. The Baler reports to the Warehouse Manager.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Participate in all training activities to acquire skills on the job
    • Learn and apply company policies, procedures and guidelines to tasks in a manner which ensures safety standards and meets production goal
    • Manage baling and material handling equipment to include: pre-shift inspection of equipment; proper handling of equipment to avoid damage or breakage, and; maintenance of equipment at end of shift
    • Remove wet clothes and hangers from clothing in preparation for baling
    • Bale recyclable and unsalvageable goods neatly and safely; stack bales using a forklift or pallet jack
    • Supply empty containers to shipping docks and other departments; move damaged roll-containers from these areas to maintenance as needed
    • Insure bailing area is free of debris and maintain good housekeeping around baling area
    • Submit needed reports and information in a timely manner
    • Perform the duties of a Dock Worker during slow season
    • Perform other related duties as assigned
    Requirements:

    QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

    • Less than 1 year related experience

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

    • Read and write English proficiently, or have enrolled in and are on track to successfully complete an approved ESL program
    • Basic mathematical skills
    • Ability to work respectfully and cooperatively with diverse group of individuals from a variety of educational, social and economic backgrounds
    • Respects and has knowledge of cultures, ethnicities, gender, sexual orientations and age groups other than one's own, able to work effectively with all
    • Follow workplace quality and safety standards and contribute to a culture of safety
    • Receptive to feedback, willing to learn and embrace continuous improvement
    • Strive for high customer satisfaction, going out of the way to be helpful and pleasant

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    • Able to consistently lift from 35 lbs. to 50 lbs.
    • Able to stand on hard surfaces for an extended period of time
