Description

In this role you will:

The Pre-operative Interview Nurse will obtain the patients medical history and provide detailed pre-operative instructions. This position allows access to clinical records.

Key Responsibilities:

• Makes pre-operative telephone calls.
• Performs pre-anesthesia evaluation/interview and teaching.
• Participates in patient education and QA.
• Documents results of the pre-anesthesia evaluation and reports results to the Anesthesiologist if needed.
• Assures patient safety. Maintains a safe environment.
• Participates in budgetary, marketing, utilization, cost containment and reduction activities.
• Practices economy in the use of time and supplies.
• Assists in organizing and developing policies and procedures and plans for improvement. Applies principles of Risk Management, QA and Patient Safety.
• Knows organizations mission, philosophy, goals and objectives and plans for improvement and strives to follow and implement these. Makes suggestions for improvement.
• Utilizes the supervisory chain of command.
• Attends all mandatory meetings and in-services required by the facility.
• Abides by the company ethics program.
• Assure compliance with all company plans, policies and procedures set forth by the Florida Orthopaedic Institute
• All other duties as assigned

About You

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and currently licensed to practice in the State of Florida.
• Experience: Prefer previous general medical-surgical nursing and/or Pre-OP/PACU experience.
• Must be BLS & ACLS certified.
• Must display comprehensive and current knowledge of general nursing theory and practice.
