    Description
    R&D Process and Production EngineerMussel Polymers Inc (MPI) . is developing novel, high-performance catechol polymer materials, which include, coatings and adhesives.

    These innovations have use in a multitude of industries including:
    biotech, dental, automotive, aerospace, medical and defense. Integral to the commercialization of these innovative materials is the development of commercial scale production of our proprietary polymers.

    We are seeking an experienced Lead Process Design and Production Engineer to join our team and lead our pilot and commercial scale plant design, engineering, installation, and commissioning.

    Providing strong technical leadership, the successful candidate will be responsible for process design and engineering, equipment specification, installation, and commissioning for first our pilot-scale facility followed by a full commercial scale facility.

    B.S. or M.S. of Chemical Engineering with 15+ years of experience plus experience with leading greenfield chemical process scale-up efforts is required. Previous experience with polymer synthesis and production strongly preferred.


    Responsibilities:
    Lead program to complete process design, engineering, installation, and commissioning of new integrated monomer and polymer production facility.

    Collaborate with executive leadership team to evaluate economic impact of initial plant scale and capacities, including evaluation of potential outsourced contract manufacturing for portions of the overall chemical process.

    Actively participate in strategic business planning.

    Manage multidisciplinary scale-up engineering team (MPI employees, contractors, and 3rd party services) including coordination, review, and oversight of team members work Responsible for management of budget and schedule performance of all process tasks Manage, facilitate, and coordinate, with potential 3rd party contract manufacturers Lead engineering calculations and develop study reports summarizing results Prepare heat and materials balances, process flow diagrams, piping & instrumentation diagrams, equipment specifications, control system philosophies, and other design documents.


    Requirements:
    B.S. or M.S. in Chemical Engineering required (Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred)

    A minimum of 15 years experience and 8 or more years of relevant experience in successful execution of preliminary and detailed process design, procurement, and construction phase activities for chemical manufacturing projects Excellent written & verbal communication skills (proficient in Microsoft Office) Experience with P&ID Diagram Development, Chemical Simulation Software (CHEMCAD or similar), and Process Hazard Analysis Previous experience leading multi-disciplinary design and engineering teams Comfortable working in a dynamic, entrepreneurial organization Must be a self-starter requiring limited direction and oversightJob Type:
