Job Title: Controls Software Engineer

Description:

The ideal candidate will be responsible for the development, implementation, optimization, and testing of control algorithms to join our Vehicle Software team.

We are looking for a skilled Controls Software Engineer to work closely with controls, systems, and integration engineers to develop control systems for fuel cell electric vehicles and powertrains.

The selected candidate will develop embedded software for FCEV system controllers (Vehicle Control Unit, Fuel Cell, Hydrogen Management System, Battery Management, etc.).

Responsibilities include developing vehicle network architecture, system requirements, and software based on J1939/UDS, integrating FCEV system controllers into commercial vehicle applications, and supporting all phases of the product development life cycle.

The successful candidate will derive controls and software requirements and design strategies based on system requirements and component specifications.

This position requires implementing software utilizing model-based design in MATLAB/Simulink, performing control strategy and software testing using MIL/HIL simulation, and developing vehicle test cases and performing vehicle level testing.

Additional responsibilities include performing troubleshooting, root cause analysis, calibration, component flash, on-site software engineering support, and participating in cross-functional system, design, DFMEA, and DVP reviews.

The qualified candidate will also develop diagnostic and OBD reporting software to meet the Zero Emission Powertrain requirements for certification and support development of functional safety and cybersecurity related requirements and designs for vehicle and major subsystems.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you should have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology, 6+ years of engineering experience, including 2+ years in a lead role, and 2+ years of requirement development experience.

You should also have experience with automotive or commercial vehicle application software development using Matlab/Simulink, J1939 and UDS communication protocols, Vector tools, software testing using MIL/HIL or on real systems, creating DFMEA and executing DVP, OBD reporting, DSM configuration, configuration management using GIT or equivalent version control systems, and familiar with ISO26262 development process and software develop lifecycle using industry best design practices and guidelines.

A strong written and oral communication skills to explain and document work, ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, resolve ambiguity and drive for results, strong problem solving, root cause analysis, and troubleshooting capability, strong technical capability to understand software design concepts and implementations, strong technical writing ability to create clear and concise architectures and requirements, and a strong sense of ownership and drive to deliver.
