The Business Analyst is responsible for the business application support for Global Medical Affairs.This role is to consult on the current state of applications and provide data-driven advice on how to expand or refine its operations to meet department needs.
The individual in this role will analyze business process issues and/or problems and provides assistance to end users; conducts research on practical solutions and makes recommendations based on findings.
This individual will seek continuous improvement opportunities to streamline processes and work closely with the IT organization. The individual will be engaged in new implementations and rollouts learning new tools and technologies. The analyst plays many roles, sometimes balancing several at the same time.The three primary roles of the business analyst are:
consultant, support, and agent of change.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Business Relationship:
Develop and maintain business relationships with functional area subject matter experts within Medical Affairs to ensure system and process needs are being addressed and maintained.
Candidate must be a people person, engaging and outgoing.Functional / Technical Expertise:
Experience supporting systems for the Global Medical Affairs department, such as document management applications, publishing tools, creation of html email templates, etc.
Assist with Various business application including, but not limited to Icertis, Ariba, Smart Simple.Documentation and Testing:
Work with users to gather and document requirements for new and existing applications. Perform testing and coordinate testing with end users.
3rd Party management: Coordinate activities with our 3rd party vendors of the applications that Global Medical Affairs owns.
Support:
Support key users and trouble shoot issues to resolve in a timely manner.
Configuration and Administration :
Administer and configure where necessary key applications for Global Medical Affairs. Including, but not limited to Icertis, Ariba, Smart Simple, be the go to person for troubleshooting and problem solving.
Vendor selection:
Work closely with the process owners, sourcing, and IT to participate in RFP's, vendor demos and evaluations and final selection of new solutions.
Project Management:
Prepare project plans and schedules working closely with vendors that support the applications.
Training:
Provide training and develop training materials for key users.
Other:
Additional tasks as assigned
Job Related Qualifications/Skills
Professional Experience
Required:
A minimum of 3-5 years' experience in a position of equal scope and responsibility
Demonstrated analytical and conceptual thinking skills
Preferred:
Experience in the pharmaceutical or medical device industry
Experience with systems design and configuration from starting from business requirements analysis through implementation and on-going support
HTML knowledge a plus
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Required:
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Preferred:
Knowledge of business processes and systems, especially workflow applications
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Exceptionally self-motivated and directed as well as ability to set and manage priorities
Proficient with or able to quickly learn systems and software used by the organization
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent interpersonal skills with a proven ability to collaborate with a team
Education
Required:
Four-year degree in Computer Science/Information Technology, Business Administration, Business Management
Preferred:
MBA
