    Position SummaryThis is a seasonal position with the Attleboro YMCA, a leading non-profit organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.

    In collaboration with the Camp Director and Assistant Director, the Behavior/Inclusion Director develops and delivers strategies to address the emotional, social, and behavioral needs of all campers.

    Essential Job FunctionsCollaborate with Camp Director, Assistant Director, and Unit Heads to develop weekly rosters.
    Oversee Inclusion Specialist team, give advice on interventions and meet with regularly.
    Assist Counselors with behavior management as needed during activities.
    Proactively share behavior management techniques with Counselors based on rosters and prior knowledge of specific camper behaviors.
    Communicate with families of Inclusion Campers on specific needs to make camp a positive experience.
    Maintain open communication with Counselors related to confidential yet vital camper information to ensure a constructive and positive experience.
    Identify opportunities to promote teamwork, camaraderie, and cooperation to strengthen interactions between Counselors, Specialists, Lifeguards, and Administration.
    Create a safe, inclusive, nurturing, and engaging environment for campers.
    Be attentive to the feelings and emotions of campers and respond or intervene appropriately.
    Promote the unique talents and diverse abilities of campers by establishing a welcoming environment.
    Be fully engaged by being an active listener and active participant in camp games and activities.
    Encourage campers and staff to achieve their highest potential and recognize positive behavior.
    Assist camp staff in maintaining a safe, clean, and healthy environment.
    Attending all mandatory YMCA staff meetings, team meetings, and staff training.
    Abide by all camp and YMCA policies & procedures.
    Actively promote camp and the Attleboro YMCA.Assist with other duties as assigned.

    QualificationsMust be at least 21 years oldIn progress of a bachelor's degree in special education, social work, Psychology, or related field.

    Must be certified in CPR and First Aid or willing to become.
    Ability to stay calm and respond effectively in an emergencyQuick and effective decision-making skills and strong communication skillsA positive, friendly attitude and strong interpersonal skillsMust be detail-oriented and able to communicate accurate information in a timely mannerA high level of maturity and responsibilityMust maintain confidentiality when dealing with sensitive informationWork Environment and Physical DemandsAbility to walk, stand, and sit for long periods of time and in extreme weather conditionsPosition may require bending, leaning, kneeling, and walkingAbility to speak concisely and communicate effectivelyMaintain a high level of physical and mental readinessYMCA Competencies (Leader)
