    What You Will Be Doing:

    We are looking for a Diagnostics Engineering Technician to help bring the most powerful, controlled pulsed-fusion device ever constructed online with the goal of generating electrical power. We know this hasn't been done before, so we are looking for individuals who have translatable experience that can help us accomplish our goals. As a technician on the Test Ops team, you will report to our Fusion Test Technician Supervisor at our Everett, WA office.

    You Will:
    • Collaborate with and lead other technicians to construct test setups for characterizing and calibrating plasma diagnostic sensors
    • Fabricate, assemble, integrate, calibrate, test, and repair hardware components according to engineering specifications
    • Installation of PXIe-NI chassis control systems, including optical fiber routing, instrumentation connections, and configuration and organization of connections
    • Install, align, and maintain plasma diagnostic sensors on fusion machines
    • Communicate project activity, status, and issues to technical owners promptly
    • Help create and maintain documentation and participate in redline reviews
    • Maintain and develop new inventory of consumables and parts as required
    Required Skills:
    • 3+ years of relevant experience on complex experiments with a focus on rapid prototyping
    • Previous experience with measurement and diagnostic sensors (e.g., interferometers, spectrometers, fiber collimators, strain gauges, cameras, thermal cameras, etc.)
    • Experience with optical fibers and optical components (e.g., cleaning, terminating optical fibers, handling components carefully)
    • Familiar working with DMMs, oscilloscopes, LCR meters, HV probes, thermocouples, calipers, and other common measurement equipment
    • Experience in the fabrication, assembly, testing, troubleshooting, repair, deployment, operation, and maintenance of mechanical and electrical assemblies and systems
    • Able to perform PCB soldering and assembly for prototype assemblies
    • Some hands-on experience with electric hand tools and basic fabrication tools preferred (e.g., drills, saws, mills, lathes, drill press, sanders, etc.).
    • Experience reading technical drawings and schematics
    • Demonstrated track record of solving complex problems, defining and accomplishing challenging objectives with minimal guidance
    The pay range for this position is $34/hr - $46/hr. This pay range may be inclusive of several career levels and will be narrowed based on several factors, including the candidate's experience and qualifications.
