- Coordinate and direct maintenance personnel and activities. Work in conjunction with Maintenance Supervisor and Maintenance Manager in directing maintenance personnel.
- Carry out directions from the Maintenance Supervisor.
- Communicate and coordinate maintenance activities with the Maintenance Manager.
- Provide guidance and instructions to other mechanics in their daily activities and has lead responsibility for special projects.
- Troubleshoot and determine root cause, analysis, diagnose equipment malfunctions or issues utilizing computer, PLC program.
- Troubleshoot production line equipment issues with other mechanics when called; diagnose problems; determine corrective action.
- Prepare daily, weekly and monthly reports documenting the activities and work performed by maintenance department, including all equipment repairs from breakdowns, work orders or PMs.
- Assist in maintaining the maintenance office and departmental records.
- Work on project list assigned by Maintenance Supervisor.
- Supervise and direct service contractors in the plant.
- Provide break or vacation relief for other mechanics as necessary.
- Perform all work in accordance with GMP and safety procedures.
- Responsible for overseeing down day activities and plant lockdown for the weekend.
- Responsible for having a valid contact number and responding to emergency call outs.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- AS or BS degree or technical certificate in a related discipline a plus.
- 5 years of experience as a maintenance worker, preferably in a food manufacturing environment along with supervisory/lead background.
- Strong mechanical skills- welding, grinding, cutting and some electrical skills- calibrating PLC, weighing systems, and wiring of circuitry.
- Reads, writes and speaks English.
- Basic proficiency in addition, subtraction and fractions. Understands temperature and weight measures.
