Job Description
The Department of Biomedical and Chemical Engineering (BMCE) at Syracuse University ) is seeking applicants for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor.
Applicants should have a Ph.D. in chemical engineering or a closely related discipline.
Computational and experimental research are both of interest, and those with training in either or both disciplines are encouraged to apply.
Priority research directions include the design, synthesis, and/or characterization of advanced materials; electrochemistry; catalysis; separations; transport phenomena; rheology and complex fluids; optimization; process systems engineering; data science; artificial intelligence; or combinations thereof.
Candidates should demonstrate commitments to collaborative, cross-disciplinary research; to excellence in teaching; and to fostering diversity and inclusion. The BMCE Department offers B.S. (ABET-accredited), M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in biomedical engineering and chemical engineering.
There are currently 21 full-time faculty members, including 7 new hires since 2018, and approximately 200 undergraduate students and 110 graduate students, 55 of whom are doctoral students.

Job Specific Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates who possess fundamental expertise in materials science, energy conversion and storage, electrochemistry, reaction engineering, and closely related fields and demonstrate potential for excellence in research and teaching.
Strong commitment to collaborative, cross-disciplinary research is especially desirable.Demonstration of past accomplishment toward fostering diversity and building an inclusive climate in research and/or teaching is of great importance.
ResponsibilitiesTeach undergraduate and graduate level courses in chemical engineering and related topics.
Develop and sustain a high quality research program.
Foster diversity and build an inclusive climate during teaching and research activities and during service to the department, college, and university.
