    We are a rapidly growing specialized construction company seeking a Senior Estimator with proven experience in public works construction. This position is part of our pre-construction team, managing all estimating functions throughout the pre-construction phase of projects.

    Our ideal candidate will be responsible for value engineering, budget controls, alternative and comparative studies, and constructability reviews. Ensuring that estimates, bids, and proposals are complete, accurate, and well supported by recent pricing data and subcontractor input are key aspects of this role.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Receive, file, and distribute design documents to internal team members for review and analysis.
    • Coordinate subcontractor bid lists with procurement for budget pricing and bidding purposes.
    • Manage distribution of current design documents for subcontractor budgeting and bidding, ensuring sufficient subcontractor input is received.
    • Review design documents for level of completion, assemble comments, and requests for additional information needed to provide a complete estimate.
    • Review and confirm that all previously approved document revisions have been incorporated in the design documents. Record and report any exceptions.
    • Arrange for pre-bid meetings and subcontractor site walk-throughs to ensure a thorough understanding of project requirements.
    • Visit sites to evaluate existing conditions and identify and capture any scope that may not be included in the design documents.
    • Work with the Pre-construction Manager to set up the estimate, estimate schedule, and responsibility matrix.
    • Perform quantity take-offs, analysis, estimate, and studies for all assigned trades and building systems.
    • Provide pricing for value engineering, alternates, options, and special studies as required.
    • Create pre-construction schedules and coordinate operational input during the estimating, bidding, and proposal process.
    • Develop, lead, or support the assembly of all estimates, bids, or proposal documents required by and submitted to the Owner.
    • Participate in internal estimate review meetings and incorporate comments, feedback, and input into revised estimates or proposals.
    • Take a lead or support role in Lump Sum Bids and analyze cost data, unit prices, general conditions, and general requirements costs.
    • Prepare comparison analyses to previous estimates and develop a clear and concise message to explain variances for each project stakeholder.

    Requirements:

    • Thorough knowledge of building construction, materials, systems, market conditions, design build, and trade practices.
    • Ability to manage a pre-construction team to achieve set goals and objectives.
    • Conceptual ability to work with minimal information and quickly develop an understanding of owner requirements.
    • Demonstrate good leadership and management skills, including multitasking and meeting established deadlines.
    • Complete knowledge of estimating documents and the ability to provide accurate qualitative and quantitative analysis of the documents.
    • Experience in estimating public works projects, preferably with a large General Contractor.

    Qualifications:

    • Minimum of 10 years of experience as a construction estimator, following experience in project engineering, field supervision, or procurement.
    • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Building Construction, or equivalent job experience.
    • Language Ability: Read and interpret documents such as construction documents and building codes. Write routine reports and correspondence.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Computer Skills: Strong knowledge of most standard computer programs, including Microsoft, Google, Building Connected, Bluebeam, Smart Sheets, etc., and experience with estimating software programs.
