    Description


    As a Process Control Engineer, you will play a crucial role in enhancing our wood products manufacturing facilities by contributing to the design, configuration, integration, and implementation of process control solutions.

    This includes engineering electrical systems, PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, SQL, Access, and PC networking technologies.


    Duties/Responsibilities:

    • Master the current process, control, and reporting systems, continuously striving for improvement in electrical/process control systems.
    • Propose and implement changes in control schemes to enhance business unit operations.
    • Blend newer technologies with existing architectures, overseeing technical design and project implementation.
    • Monitor machinery and systems to minimize unplanned downtime, proactively solve problems, and identify improvement opportunities.
    • Collaborate with maintenance and operational teams to drive continuous improvement of assets and asset performance.
    • Strategically think about downtime prevention and long-term issue resolution as part of the maintenance team, while maintaining a culture of efficiency and swift response to downtime events.
    • Respond to equipment downtime emergencies, develop plans for recurring situations, and identify opportunities for condition-based monitoring.
    • Provide ongoing training for electrical personnel to foster good operating and maintenance practices.
    • Offer backup support to other process control and electrical supervision personnel, ensuring sustained production through electrical engineering support.
    • Maintain documentation related to process control system configuration and SOPs in coordination with electrical supervisors.
    • Contribute to planning and budgeting activities for the business unit, balancing day-to-day needs with long-term projects.
    • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, quality, maintenance, and manufacturing standards and procedures.
    • Perform additional duties as required by supervisor.
    *Required Skills And Abilities:


    • Eagerness to continually enhance understanding of computerized equipment programming for timely diagnostics and repairs.
    • Proficiency in full controls integration, spanning electrical/instrumentation design to PLC to HMI.
    • Familiarity with common sensors and transmitters and their application suitability.
    • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS Suite, Project, Access, SQL, CMMS, AutoCAD, and Kronos, along with IO Servers.
    • Ability to troubleshoot and repair machinery using drawings, schematics, and root-cause/failure analysis.
    • Solid knowledge of engineering concepts encompassing electrical, instrumentation, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.
    • Effective communication skills (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
    • Strong leadership abilities to manage and motivate team members effectively.
    • Excellent analytical, reasoning, and problem-solving skills, with a knack for innovative solutions to complex problems.
    • High personal integrity and adherence to ethical and professional standards.
    • Excellent time-management and organizational skills, including flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and respond to callouts if required.

    Education And Experience:

    • Bachelor's degree in electrical, computer, or mechanical engineering and 5+ years of post-degree manufacturing or relevant process control experience.
    • Preferred experience in forest products, paper and pulp, food or beverage processing, or chemical industries.
    • Experience with continuous manufacturing processes is advantageous.
    • Working knowledge of Simatic/TI505 PLCs and Wonderware HMI or equivalent.
    • Experienced in Ethernet network design and implementation, including fiber and 10/100 Base TX.
    • Familiarity with steam systems, natural gas systems, hydraulic systems, and pneumatic systems.
    • Experience in capital project design, installation, and startup.

    Pay:
    $100, $110,000.00 per year
