    StaffFULL-TIME NIGHTSTheMedical Laboratory Scientist IIprovides state-of-the-art laboratory specimen testing, including phlebotomy, from neonates to geriatric patients ensuring patient safety

    General Functions:


    Processes and tests blood and other body fluid specimens for the clinical laboratoryReviews test results and applies the correct clinical interpretation of that dataReports lab results accurately and responsively, to include use of a laboratory information systemPerforms operation, maintenance and advanced troubleshooting of laboratory instrumentation and equipmentPerforms venous and capillary phlebotomy and ensures specimen integrity as necessary.

    Performs basic clerical functionsWrites procedures and assist in the development of department policiesActs as a resource person for providing information and problem solving for the Medical Technicians, Medical Lab Scientist I, Phlebotomists and other laboratory personnelAdditional responsibility includes assisting with new equipment validation and implementation,employee and student training and competency assessment, regulatory compliance responsibilities for CAP, TCJ, AABB or other agencies, quality assurance, quality control and instrument maintenance.

    Assists with R&D projects as requiredRelays orders, take inventory and stocks suppliesUtilizes resources efficiently and effectivelyMaintains safe environmentAddresses patient population-specific needsParticipates in Performance Improvement activities


    MINIMUM EDUCATION:


    Bachelor's Degree from an approved college or university and/or graduate of an accredited school of medical technology, or equivalent such as military training as defined by 42 CFR Personnel who, prior to 2/28/92 have qualified at the Medical Technologist level by achieving a satisfactory grade on a HHS examination.

    The above meets required criteria as defined by CLIA regulations for High Complexity testing (42 CFR , Jan. 24, 2003).


    MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:
    3 years as a medical technologist in acute care facility with demonstration of increasing responsibilities.
    REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/


    LICENSURE:
    Registered with an approved certifying agency (ASCP, NCA, AMT or CSMLS within 12 months of hire). Equivalency evaluation by ECE, NACES or AICE for non-US trained personnel must be completed within 30 days of hire. Licensure, as required by State. Once certified, no annual renewals are required.
