    Summary:
    Responsible for managing the division's maintenance team and for performing a wide variety of electrical and mechanical assignments.

    Responsible for applying skills, experience, and general knowledge to a wide range of maintenance tasks and support the leadership of the plant to improve safety, quality, and customer service by eliminating waste, improving our equipment reliability and up time, driving continuous improvement.


    Core Functions:

    • Ensures assigned areas operate within the Central States Mission and Values.
    • Follows and enforces all plant safety procedures and uses all applicable personal protective gear.
    • Guide, assist, develop, and foster a culture of continuous improvement by effective communication and mind set of problem-solving tools and techniques.
    • Monitor a budget and resource plan for divisional process improvement measures.
    • Oversee maintenance support for the division including activities such as technical capability & capacity analysis, new capability introduction, plant layout, equipment troubleshooting, plant safety, process improvement, functional training, etc.
    • Participates in CapEx execution including equipment specifications, ordering, implementation at facilities, and final site approval to deliver expected operational benefits on time and budget. Participate and facilitate all site development of annual CapEx plans.
    • Develops safety awareness behavior and applies safety, ergonomic, and environmental policies. Understands the standards, guidelines, and regulations applicable to the division. Properly communicates all incidents in accordance with the policy. Ensures proper analysis and treatment of incidents including "near misses."
    • Instills a divisional culture that aligns with our purpose and values and with CSMI leadership expectations. Monitors, coaches, and mentors team, continually improving culture and leadership at all levels of the division.
    • Understands and applies the "Right. On Time. Every Time." mindset with internal customer relationships. Able to solve problems and prevent reoccurrence through detection, communication, analysis, verification, and exchange of lessons learned/best practices. Coaches others on mindset, tools, and methodologies.
    • Achieves operational excellence in the areas of 5S, respect for product, scrap, and machine/equipment uptime and repair cost. Able to recognize and systemically eliminate waste. Able to define and apply processes and standards. Coaches division on waste recognition, continuous improvement, and process/standards.
    • Responsible for the retention of employees under his/her responsibility. Ensures the proper execution of objective deployment, appraisals, training plans, career discussions, and succession development planning. Responsible for identifying the developmental needs of employees and ensuring they have proper coaching, mentoring, and training.
    • Must perform a wide variety of electrical installations and maintenance work on plant electrical systems and equipment to furnish an uninterrupted flow of power and lighting.
    • Makes electrical, plumbing, and general repairs to buildings as well as troubleshooting and repairing electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical machinery and equipment throughout the facility.
    • Diagnoses and remedies electrical or electronic troubles and repairs and replaces equipment as needed.
    • Coordinates operation and installation of "download" systems from the computer network to machine controllers.
    • Must be able to obtain a forklift operator's license and safely operate a forklift.
    • Enters equipment records, data, and notes into computerized maintenance management system. Perform Predictive Maintenance.
    • Compliance to use of company CMMS system for scheduling, completion and documentation of site PMs.
    • Specific expectations for organization and management of spare parts.
    • Maintains tools provided by the company and furnishes own tools to function properly in this classification.
    • Performs fabrication, maintenance, joining, and cutting of ferrous and nonferrous metal parts and structures using a variety of techniques. Welds and cuts all types of material using electric arc, oxyacetylene, or other welding techniques in horizontal, vertical, or overhead positions.
    • Planning and scheduling the assigned areas activities. Looking out over the horizon to allow for level loading and resource management.
    • Problem solving activities for quality, production, quality issues lead for the area. Understand a structured process to solve problems with root cause and validated corrective actions. Ability to conduct these activities and explain to his/her EO's the corrective actions and his expectations of them.
    • Monitoring the assigned area's performance on hourly basis against KPI's. Working with the team to ensure deviations (good and bad) are understood and actions are in place to address these deviations.
    • Understand machine down time relative to maintenance issues. Track and identify corrective and preventive actions.
    • Understanding Cost control. This includes knowing cost impact of OT, scrap, lost production time, etc. This impact should be known and actively managed through the monitoring of the KPI's
    • Knowing Safety / OSHA / Regulation controls and sharing with team. Constantly reinforcing and stopping all other activity to prioritize safety concerns.
    • Ensuring that Quality Control is being performed at each work center based on the QC standard, RMA corrective actions, and internal/external customer feedback.
    • Training and driving of operational principals within the assigned area. These basic principles center around Continuous Improvement and tools like; 5-S, Waste elimination, production scheduling, removal cost of non-quality.
    • Conducting shift hand-offs on both sides to ensure that all needed information for the status of the operation is known between the technicians.
    • Planning and balancing overtime is done based on workload and schedules and based on a position not department.

    Key Measures of Success:

    • Ability to use and interpret technical drawings, prints, and schematics (electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, etc.)
    • Ability to use and interpret basic electrical and electronic theory and mechanics.

    • Ability to learn internal Enterprise Resource Planning system.

    Education & Experience:

    Minimum Required:

    • Vocational or technical degree and minimum of six years of relevant experience OR equivalent of the combination of education and experience.
    • Continuous Improvement, Problem-Solving and Predictive Maintenance experience and background.
    • Experience with hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical machinery.
    • Experience with mechanical drawings to be able to utilize complex part drawings, sectional views, electrical symbols, and especially schematics and ladder logic.

    Preferred:

    • Experience with motor controls (drivers) AC and DC and automated controllers such as AMS systems and CNC controllers preferred.

    Physical Demands & Work Environment:
    This position is primarily working around machinery with moving parts, working around moving objects or vehicles.

    The employee is frequently required to walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach/pull/push/grab with hands and arms, kneel, and crouch, twist and bend.

    The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or crawl. This position requires the ability to communicate verbally and electronically. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud and in a non-temperature-controlled environment.

    While performing the core function of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, stand for long periods of time, and required to lift to 60 lbs.

    Travel

    Approximately 40% of their time. Ability to work at other facilities, weekends, other shifts and to be on call.
