    JOB TITLE:

    Chief Engineer via the Project Engineer


    SUMMARY:


    The Piasecki Aircraft Corporation Stress/Structural Engineer is responsible for providing oversight and direction to develop, integrate and document structural requirements to establish the system design.

    The Structural/Stress Engineer will coordinate with other engineering groups to establish the product's environment. This role supports all ongoing Piasecki Aircraft R&D and Production Programs.

    Stress/structural analysis will include:
    interpretation of vehicle loads and environments, stress calculations and development of margins of safety with known allowable.
    Observance of program standards and requirements to ensure structural integrity, and documentation of stress reports.

    Planning and organizing structural analysis work at the program level to assure total compliance with structural integrity and stability requirements.

    Developing, integrating, and documenting complex or unique structural requirements to establish the system design.


    RESPONSIBILITIES:
    Leads development, integration and documentation of structural requirements to establish the system design.
    Coordinates with other engineering groups to establish the product's environment.

    Guides product design and verifies structural integrity by using and developing analytical methods, finite element models/simulations and other analysis tools throughout the product lifecycle to develop the structural environment, characteristics, and performance.

    Leads development of test plans and configurations, supports test execution and analyzes/reports test results to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications.

    Defines and documents certification and test results to substantiate for customers and regulatory agencies that requirements are satisfied.
    Supports in-service products by leading investigations into failures and analyzing improvements.
    Develops analytical processes/tools to improve effectiveness, quality and efficiency of the development effort.
    Works under minimal direction.
    Reviews and approves certification results.
    Investigates emerging technologies to develop future product designs to meet projected requirements.


    KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES:
    3 or more years' related work with FAA in Commercial and DOD Aircraft (preferred)
    Familiar with CSW, Finite Element Analysis (FEA) including NASTRAN/Abaqus
    Experience with composites and MIL-HDBK-5
    Familiar with CAD design tools (Autocad and SOLIDWORKS)
    Experience of MRO or Production Line support
    Fatigue Analysis experience (required)


    EDUCATION / CERTIFICATIONS / CLEARANCES:
    Bachelor's or advanced degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering or equivalent
