Salary Range:
$83,000 - $89,000 - Salary commensurate with experience
Position Purpose:
To assist the Principal in providing leadership and supervision in administering the educational and extracurricular programs of Allendale High School in order to promote the educational development and achievement of students in accordance with Board of Education policies, administrative procedures, rules and regulations, and applicable law.
To serve as Principal in the absence of the Principal.
Qualifications:
Master's Degree in Educational Leadership
Valid Michigan Teaching and Administrator Certificates or ability to qualify pursuant to and District expectations
Minimum of five years of successful teaching experience (high school preferred)
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with many different stakeholders (e.g. students, staff members, families, and community members)
Proven success with changing student behavior
Strong organizational skills
Strong leadership skills
Positive rapport with parents and students
Experience in the application of Restorative Practices, PBIS, and MTSS
Knowledgeable in ways of meeting the social/emotional needs of students
Experience with Seat-Time Waiver and Online Learning programs preferred
Essential Job Responsibilities:
Oversee supervision of students and the safety of the school grounds
Monitors the safety and administration of the school and grounds, and responds to emergency situations requiring first aid, etc.
Support implementation and promotion of schoolwide initiatives
Assist in leading the development and implementation of PBIS and other behavior intervention programs that will ensure a positive and safe environment for learning
Oversee student behavior incidents in accordance with the Student Handbook including the Student Code of Conduct and Restorative Practices principles
Supervise and oversee high school attendance policies and procedures
Assist the principal in providing school-wide leadership
Work with staff to initiate, design, implement, and evaluate programs, materials, and strategies to meet assessed needs of students
Assist the principal in utilizing achievement data to lead and facilitate change for improving student learning
Work with department chairs and staff leaders in a supportive manner
Motivate and assist staff in setting curriculum objectives
Evaluate staff, as assigned
Assist with oversight of specialized programs in the building such as Special Education, 504s, MTSS, RTI, Alternative Education, and various interventions.
Work cooperatively with various members of the administration team in addressing district programs and initiatives relating to instruction, transportation, and special servicesCommunicate and maintain relations with parents, parent groups, school volunteers and outside agencies
Acts as a liaison between district and police liaison and outside agencies
Attend and assist with the management of home events and extra-curricular activities, including events during nights and weekends
Assist the principal to establish a budget and to allocate financial resources
Participate in building meetings and such other meetings as may be required by the district
Supervise and oversee the online learning and seat-time waiver programs
Serve as Testing Coordinator for Allendale High School and New Options Alternative High School
Assist in the development of the Master Schedule
Prepare or supervise the preparation of building reports
Supervise operations in the principal's absence
Other duties to support administration
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of current research-based teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as tiered supports
Knowledge of High School curriculum and concepts
Knowledge of best practices in administration, program evaluation and staff supervision
Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and the formulation of action and implementation plans
Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education
Ability to use computer network systems and software applications as needed
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Ability to attend and supervise extra-curricular evening events multiple nights per week
Ability to communicate effectively with staff, students and parents
Ability to organize multiple tasks and conflicting time constraints
Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to leadership, performance, and professional growth
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work
Additional Duties:
Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal, Superintendent and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent
