    JOB DESCRIPTION

After undergoing surgery, the nurse in charge of post-operative care is responsible for verifying the surgical/procedure site with the patient based on their surgical schedule and medical history. The nurse will then evaluate the patient's condition to determine when they are ready to be transferred to the post-anesthesia care unit, also known as the PACU. However, if the patient's vital signs are not stable, or if there are complications with sealing off the incision site, the patient may need to remain in the operating room for further intervention by the surgeon. Once the post-op nurse confirms that the patient can safely be moved, they will transfer the patient to the PACU for further care.
