    Primary Purpose:


    Provides direct one-on-one behavioral intervention to teach communication, social, and daily living skills and reduce maladaptive behaviors in home, community, and school settings.

    Behavior Technicians will utilize interventions developed out of the science of Applied Behavior Analysis.


    Education / Certification:

    • Be at least 18 years of age.
    • High School Diploma or equivalent required
    • Must hold and maintain current certification requirements.
    • Follow the RBT Ethics Code

    Special Knowledge / Skills:

    • Ability to work with students with disabilities.
    • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
    • Ability to communicate effectively.
    • Knowledge of general office equipment, assistive technology devices/systems, specialized curricula, Behavior Intervention Plans, etc.

    Major Responsibilities and Duties:

    • Follow the IEP to include Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP) to provide beneficial and effective care to students.
    • Assist students with day-to-day tasks.
    • Observe student behaviors to collect data.
    • Teach specific skills required for skill acquisition and maladaptive behavior reduction.
    • Nurture a student's social abilities.
    • Inform teacher and itinerant personnel about behavioral intervention findings.
    • Establishes and maintains therapeutic relationship by pairing self as a reinforcing entity and building the value for the student of social interaction.
    • Prompts safe and socially acceptable replacement behaviors to build a repertoire of communication, social interaction, and problem-solving skills.
    • Fades prompts appropriately to promote both successful and independent responding.
    • Increases the frequency or duration of safe and appropriate replacement behaviors by providing access to reinforcers (desired items/actions, attention, or removal of demands/aversive situations)
    • Accurately collects behavior data including: A-B-C, count, frequency, duration, latency, inter-response time, event, interval based recording, etc.
    • Follows the goals and interventions utilizing sound judgement and seeks out appropriate consultation.
    • Collaborates with teachers and itinerant personnel to provide services effectively and without disruption to the environment or other individuals in the environment.
    • Collaborates with teachers and itinerant personnel on reinforcement and early intervention information.

    Supervisory Responsibilities:
    None.


    Equipment Used:
    Wheelchair lift, ramp, personal computer, copier and audio/visual equipment as necessary.
