    Brunswick High School is seeking an Assistant Principal.

    Brunswick High School is a comprehensive school serving approximately 750 students in grades 9-12 in Mid-Coast Maine. BHS is dedicated to providing students with opportunities and supports to realize their potential and make valuable contributions to society. The school offers a full complement of academic programming including extensive Advanced Placement offerings, award-winning curricular and co-curricular programming, and a rich array of student supports.

    Duties and responsibilities include:

    • Maintains effective interpersonal relationships with students, parents, and staff.
    • Provides effective managerial leadership as evidenced by results, which indicate good planning, organization and creativity.
    • Assumes responsibility for professional growth and development through involvement in professional organizations and attendance at regional, state and national levels.
    • Serves as principal in the absence of the principal when requested.
    • Supervises the monitoring, reporting, and recording of student attendance for assigned grade levels.
    • Acts on student behavior and attendance concerns for assigned grade levels, involves parents and appropriate agencies when necessary, and maintains up-to-date records on related student matters.
    • Assists the principal in the identification, development, implementation, and evaluation of instructional and related co-curricular programs.
    • Assists the principal in the selection, assignment and evaluation of staff members for departments specified by the principal.
    • Assists the principal in the preparation and administration of department budgets specified by the principal.
    • Chairs Individual Education Plan meetings for grade levels specified by the principal.
    • Assists the principal in preparation of student and teacher orientation programs and opening of school activities.
    • Shares in the responsibility for the supervision of extra-curricular activities with the other high school administrators.
    • Works with the school department administrative team on system wide concerns.
    • Provides leadership in the development of athletic and activities policies.
    • Establishes and maintains the school master calendar and oversees the implementation of scheduled activities.
    • Plans and coordinates all school assemblies.
    • Works with the Student Council advisor and approves the scheduling of student body activities.
    • Provides liaison between the high school and the Director of Buildings, Grounds, and Transportation.
    • Oversees the preparation and distribution of student and faculty handbooks.
    • Assists with the high school public relations and public information program.
    • Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as the principal may assign from time to time.
    Successful candidates will have at least:
    • At least three years teaching experience at the high school level.
    • Maine Assistant Building Administrator (045) certification.
    • A demonstrated commitment to student opportunities and success.
    • The ability to work effectively with various colleagues and stakeholders.
    • Exceptional communication skills.
