The Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center's School of Allied Health Professions (SAHP) is seeking an Assistant/Associate Dean for Research to provide leadership to align the school's strategic and research initiatives by promoting the generation of scholarship by the
SAHP
faculty. Reporting to the Dean of the School of Allied Health, the Associate Dean for Research is the School's chief research officer and a member of the
SAHP
Administrative Council.
The Associate Dean for Research works closely and collaboratively with faculty, department heads, staff, and represents the School with internal and external constituencies.
The Associate Dean for Research will provide approximately 30-50% effort within the Dean's office and will continue as a faculty member in his/her primary academic department (50-70%) with responsibility for teaching and course instruction, as well as departmental, school, and university committee service.
Additional Position InformationThe position will include responsibilities such as: mentoring faculty (especially junior faculty) on research career aspects and developing a program of research; serve as a liaison between the department heads and the Dean; serve as liaison between the
SAHP
and the Office of Research Services; serve on the Council of Research Deans for
LSU
Health Sciences Center; serve as liaison between the faculty and the Dean; providing leadership and oversight for the research committee; evaluating research opportunities; fostering collaborative, interdisciplinary research between departments and between the School and other schools at
LSUHSC ; promote faculty scholarship and research dissemination; (also, this includes, but is not limited to, interacting with the
IRB
on behalf of the School, maintaining compliance with the
IRB, federal and state policies regarding research regarding research along with university policies); implementing the research aspects of the School's new strategic plan in conjunction with the Health Sciences Center and the Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs developing school policies and procedures; working with other campus research leadership on strategic research partnerships; representing the School on research matters with the University and the Association of Schools of Allied Health Professions; assist the Dean in Communicating with the Faculty and the school's leadership on research developments, opportunities, and accomplishments.
Plan and implement faculty development activities to include but not limited to grant writing, publication workshops, Implement an intramural research seed grant program.
