    About the Role:

    We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join our dynamic New Initiatives Team. You will help shape the future of our products, driving innovation, and leading the technical direction for all new initiatives within Remitly. You'll report to the Senior Engineering Manager for the New Initiatives team.

    You Will:

    • Technical Leadership: use your depth and breadth of experience to lead complex, long-term, cross-team engineering efforts. In collaboration with other functional and engineering leaders, you will help create and evolve a technical strategy for new initiatives at Remitly
    • New Product Development: Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other partners to conceptualize and design new features and products that enhance our B2C customer experience. Guide the innovation process and ensure understanding of our goals.
    • Architecture & Design: Architect complex systems, ensuring they are efficient, maintainable, and scalable. Evaluate and select appropriate tools, and frameworks to achieve team goals.
    • Engineering Excellence: Lead by example, writing high-quality code, and providing code reviews to maintain the highest standards of software craftsmanship within the team. Promote best practices and improve software development processes.
    • Be a Cultural Leader: Be a role model in upholding Remitly's cultural values and use them as a framework to mentor other engineers across the company to achieve their full potential. You will help set and hire against a high-engineering talent bar for the team.

    You Have:

    • A degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field or equivalent experience.
    • Expertise in one or more general-purpose programming languages such as Java, Go, or TypeScript.
    • 8+ years of overall software development experience including leading the development of reliable, available, and scalable distributed systems
    • Experience as a technical leader on complex engineering projects with multiple partners and working in partnership with Product, Design, and Data.
    • Experience driving and building long-term technical strategy across multiple engineering teams.
    • Experience mentoring engineers up to Senior levels. Inspire and motivate team members to achieve their full potential.

    Compensation Details: The starting base salary range for this position is typically $194,000 - $242,000. In the U.S., Remitly employees are shareholders in our Company and equity is part of our total compensation plan.
