Position Summary:

The Physician Compensation Analyst position will calculate and track physician productivity, compensation, bonuses, and related metrics to enable accurate payment to employed physicians. This position also provides analytical support to the medical group, assists in the annual budget process, and works as a member of multidisciplinary teams to ensure a high level of integrity regarding physician payment and productivity.

1. C alculate and track physician bonus payments and associated metrics used to calculate bonuses.

2. Provide clear and transparent reporting to medical group leadership and physicians. Answer questions as they arise.

3. Work assigned projects as assigned by Manager of Financial Planning and Budgeting, Vice President of Finance, or President of the Central Maine Medical Group.

4. Create and maintain modeling around physician productivity trends and projections that support operational strategy and success.

5. Builds key relationships in finance and across the organization including medical group leadership and physicians.

6. Assists in preparation, monitoring, and management of physician productivity and compensation budgets.

7. Prepare compensation reporting and models that provides counsel on the financial impacts of actions for consideration.

8. In conjunction with legal resources, document and monitor payment to ensure fair market value of all physician compensation models.

9. Assist in development of compensation plans for each service line including the development and administration of compensation plans designed to incentivize performance while aligning physician compensation with the goals of the Central Maine Medical Group.

10. Manage performance data as it relates to physician compensation to ensure payment practices are based on reliable data as defined by physician contracts.

11. Maintains working knowledge of physician compensation arrangements relevant to government regulations and collaborate with leadership and legal staff to ensure compensation models are following regulations.

12. Demonstrates tact, courtesy, and a positive attitude in communication and interaction with other employees, visitors, physicians, and the public. At all times represents the medical group and hospital in a positive manner.

13. Demonstrates willingness and ability to implement and support organizational change.

14. Accepts and fulfills, with a positive attitude, additional responsibilities as may be assigned.

15. Adheres to dress code and maintains neat and professional appearance.

16. Completes and maintains annual education and regulatory requirements.

17. Attends and actively participates in scheduled and impromptu staff meetings.

18. Actively participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities.

19. Communicates and supports the mission, ethics, and goals of the facility.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree emphasizing in Business or Finance (or related field of study) along with 3 years experience in Provider compensation, Finance or Data Analytics.
  • Must have experience in Microsoft Excel-spreadsheets and Word; working experience in PowerPoint as well as Axiom software applications would be helpful. Communication and providing good customer service are an important aspect of this position.
  • The Physician Compensation Analyst is a member of a team of accountants and analysts that will be responsible for working together to achieve the goals of the Finance Department and the Vice President of Finance. Willingness to be a part of a team environment is required. Goal setting is performed under the direction of the Vice President of Finance and Chief Financial Officer. The Physician Compensation Analyst is expected to exercise judgment, initiative, and independent action in meeting the goals and objectives of the position and the team. The Physician Compensation Analyst must keep the VP of Finance informed on the status of assigned responsibilities.
