The Boeing Company is currently seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Autonomous Maritime Undersea team located in Herndon, VA (virtual).

This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) business organization.

We are looking for a motivated, passionate Senior Software Engineer , driven by curiosity, with technical leadership experience that uses expertise to solve challenging business problems and drive better outcomes for our customers.

The successful candidate will have strong ability to design and write clean code, and utilize best practices that lead to extensible and scalable implementations.

The position demands an ongoing focus on driving quality and continuous improvement through the use of modern technologies and best practices.

The role is part of the Maritime Undersea organization supporting national security missions for many Department of Defense and Intelligence Community agencies.

In this role you will develop software following industry best practices, maintaining architectures, requirements, interfaces and design for seamless integration, while providing technical support and problem resolution to existing development infrastructure.

You will operate in a fast paced and dynamic environment, and you must be a self-starter with the ability to work both independently and as part of a self-organizing agile development team.

Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written are important to succeed in the role.

Primary Responsibilities:

Lead Software design, implementation, test, and maintenance Software development in C++ using secure coding principles Promote and implement software engineering principles and best practices for the full software development life cycle; including coding standards, code reviews, source control Perform unit and regression testing on software baseline Write and trouble shoot SE Linux policy including maintenance Participate in agile ceremonies and drive continuous improvement This position has been identified as a virtual opportunity and does not require applicants to live in Herndon, VA.

Security Clearance and Export Control Requirements:

This position requires the ability to obtain a Secret US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship.

Ability to obtain a Secret US Security clearance Post-Start.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

Strong Development experience in C++ Experience / strong skills in software engineering and architecture, including object-oriented design and concurrent programming experience in performing system software support activities for a network of Linux based servers and client workstations Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience): Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA)

Installation/setup/maintenance of Jenkins automation server XML, Schematron, XSLT, or DFDL Secure coding principles Security or CISSP Understanding of inter-process communication Perl, Bash scripting (Linux) Virtual

Box, VMware Java and Java Native Interface (JNI) Knowledge of Cross Domain Solutions (CDS) Familiarity with Agile development environment Typical Education/Experience:

Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's Degree,14 or more years' experience; Master's Degree, with 12 or more years' experience; or PhD, with 9 or more years' experience.

Bachelor, master or doctorate of science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry.

Travel:
