- Satisfactory completion of an accredited radiation therapy technology education program
- Must be registered by the ARRT or board eligible.
- Must be licensed by New York State Department of Health as a Radiation Therapy Technologist (Radiation Therapist)
- Previous experience preferred but not required.
- Proficient with the following preferred but not required:
- Elekta Versa HD, Varian 2100EX, Philips Big Bore RT CT Simulator, Philips TumorLOC, Philips Pinnacle, and Mosaiq R&V System.
- Demonstrate positive interactions and communications with coworkers, patients, management, and other hospital departments.
- Communicate effectively.
- Demonstrate the ability to function in a team.
- Deliver prescribed treatments accurately.
- Provide a safe, clean environment for patients.
- Provide ongoing documentation of all functions provided.
- Responsible for scheduling and providing daily billing charges of patients.
- Provide adequate patient education.
- Assist Medical Physicist and Dosimetrist as needed.
- Maintain an adequately stocked room.
- Participate in clinical training of RTT students.
- Demonstrate the appropriate skills and ability to care for patients.
- Adhere to the policies and procedures set forth by the department; universal precautions, blood borne pathogen, disposal of needles, syringes and sharps, cleanup procedures for blood and body fluid spills, storage, handling and disposal of medical waste.
- Adhere to hospital policies and procedures related to mandatory education, annual health assessment and licensure verification.

Description
The Radiation Therapist provides all aspects of direct patient care during the delivery of radiation treatments as prescribed by the radiation oncologist. Activities related, but not limited to, patient care includes scheduling, patient education and record keeping of all aspects of the daily treatments.
