    • Friday day position which follows a school calendarMary Cariola Center is a regional leader in education and life skills solutions, serving hundreds of children and young adults each year through academic, residential, and community outreach programs.
    Whether children are medically fragile or living with the daily challenges of autism, cognitive delays, physical disabilities, or rare genetic syndromes, the staff is dedicated to providing the individualized encouragement they need.
    SUMMARYAssists behavior therapists with the day to day implementation of behavior intervention plans aimed at preventing crisis situations. When needed will assist classroom staff with crisis intervention techniques for students with behavioral challenges.
    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESSensitivity to cultural diversity of others.
    Provide an appropriate care of students including any health, safety and personal care concerns.
    Provides behavioral support with students as assigned.
    Takes direction from the Behavior Therapist, Behavior Therapy Supervisor or Crisis Intervention Supervisor on a daily basis.

    Participates on an interdisciplinary team whose responsibility is to provide initial and on-going evaluations for each student and to establish appropriate therapeutic goals and program recommendationsMaintains certification in all agency approved crisis intervention programs and stays current in the field of Behavior Analysis as evidenced by participation in department meetings and ongoing professional developmentProvides the Behavior Therapist with information and observations concerning the students' progress, behavior, needs and general well being.

    Supports the implementation of evidence-based practices throughout the AgencyProvides Behavior Therapists with information and observations concerning the students' progress, behavior, needs and general well beingAssists classrooms during behavioral crisis situations, which may include the implementation of emergency physical interventions and/or problem solvingAssists the Behavior Therapists with data computation, data entry, and data filingCompletes fidelity checks to assist Behavior Therapists in ensuring proper implementation of Behavior Intervention Plans; reports any concerns to Behavior Therapist assigned to classroomAssists Behavior Therapists with setting up data sheets to monitor students' Behavior Intervention PlansAssists classroom teams with conducting preference assessmentsWorks across all programs, in any assigned classroom as needed, responding appropriately to the needs of the Agency's diverse student population.

    Carries out any other related activities as assigned by the Behavior Therapist or other department supervisor.
    Other duties may be assigned.

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCEApplicant must be able to demonstrate they have achieved a Local/Regents High School diploma or Equivalency Diploma issued by a local school district or State Education Department.

    This achievement will be verified directly with the issuing entity; and a minimum of one (1) year related experience and/or training with the population of students with developmental delays; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    The ability to create tables, charts, excel worksheets on the computer using the following programs:
    Microsoft Word, Office and Excel.
    LANGUAGE SKILLSAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
    MATHEMATICAL SKILLSAbility to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

    REASONING ABILITYAbility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

    Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
