    As an R&D Electrical Engineer for ELIP (Electrification Installation Products) located in Hackettstown, NJ, you will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and troubleshooting products for utility market.

    You will collaborate with production engineers and field service technicians to ensure the quality and safety of our products.

    Your responsibilitiesWork in a cross functional team to develop new products and products enhancementsIndependently perform various engineering tasks involving such functions as analysis, design, development, test, while working from drawings, specifications, and other pertinent informationParticipate in investigation of technical problems in manufacturing and establishing corrective action plansSupport manufacturing in product sustainability, conducting/coordinating parts obsolescence design reviews and implementationSupport application engineering in technical discussions with customers and partnersSupport field service technicians in evaluate field failures, troubleshooting source of failure, reviewing and approving reportsContribute your own creative ideas to R&D projects and propose follow-up activities based on project resultsGathering information about ABB products and technologies and developing an understanding of technical drivers and customer valueWorking to recognize the importance of intellectual property in the industry and the advantage of ABB's patents relevant to your own area of research, as well as to grasp risk management in R&D projectsYour backgroundA bachelor's degree in electrical engineering with 1 to 3 years of experience working in product development and manufacturing support environmentDirect work experience supporting production, parts obsolescence, testing high voltage products and troubleshooting issues using schematics and wiring diagramsFunctional knowledge of CREO, SolidWorks, Excel, Word and MRP software; Experience developing firmware using C is a plusA solution-focused approach with a high level of self-motivation, curiosity, and desire to learn about how products functionStrong written and verbal communication skillsCandidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the USMore about usABB Installation Products Division (formerly Thomas&Betts),is the number one manufacturer of electrification products in North America with a 125-year history of providing innovation and customer- focused solutions for connecting and protecting electrical systems, as well as a unique differentiated medium voltage offering.
