    Job Description Summary

    As a controls-engineering technician you will provide daily support plant Production operations for troubleshooting of mechanical problems such as but not limited to robots, CNC lathes, forge presses. The role requires the tech to identify and record problems related to the product, process, and quality system as well as, diagnose, troubleshoot, and maintain electrical equipment. This role will initiate, recommend, and provide solutions as well as control further processing, delivery, and installation of non-conforming product until the deficiency condition has been corrected as well as assist with project related design, installation, and commissioning of controls systems.

  • Support Production operations for all maintenance and repairs for mechanical problems such as but not limited to conveyors and machine automation, robots, CNC lathes, forge presses.
  • Analyze, troubleshoot, and maintain all plant equipment through the application of sound troubleshooting techniques and repair methodology.
  • Work from available mechanical drawings and equipment specifications and schematics.
  • Basic understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic circuits / equipment.
  • Perform preventive, predictive, and routine inspection maintenance.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Assist with troubleshooting and repair of down equipment
  • Ability to navigate ladder logic. Allen Bradley and Siemens.
  • Ability to work with 24 DC to 480 volts AC.
  • Ability to use test equipment such as a multi-meter, megger, phase rotation meter, and oscilloscope.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and schematics.
  • Familiarity with Fanuc or Nachi robots for recovery, point adjustment and program change.
  • Some project related design, installation, and commissioning.
  • Assist with general parts research, demand and reordering as necessary
  • Navigates within Plex to review, update and complete maintenance work requests
  • Analyzes and resolves machine and conveyor problems.
  • Establishes or adjusts work processes to meet production schedules.
  • Resolve quality issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Work with Engineering on any process and 10-foot circle improvements.
  • Establish standards for department with regards to testing devices and repair equipment needed
  • Establish and maintain standard communication template for shift to shift and project related tasks
  • Establish training materials, accumulate them to a central and accessible repository
  • Establish and administer testing materials to assess team members and identify gaps
  • Establish routine schedule to train Controls Maintenance Technicians to reduce gaps
  • Other duties as assigned by your manager
  • This position reports to 1st shift.
  • Required Skills and Education

    This position requires a high attention to detail, the ability to work in ambiguous situations and requires little direction to get things done. Proficiency in PLEX. Ability to use computer terminals, gages, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.

    Strong electrical skills, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical troubleshooting skills and abilities are required. Must be able to work with a team.

    Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, quality documents, set-up instructions and blueprints. Be able to fill out charts and other simple documents and to effectively communicate with team members verbally and through e-mail.

    High School diploma or general education degree minimum, associate or higher degree preferred, related experience and/or training a plus.

    This position is hourly and non-exempt. Overtime for this position will be scheduled as needed.
