POSITION OVERVIEW:
Adapt Hussey's bleacher and chair platform product lines to meet the event configuration needs of spectator seating venues.
DUTIES and
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop Engineer-to-Order design solutions for Hussey's bleacher and chair platform product lines.
Create code compliant submittal drawings for customer approval that reflect the product configurations to be provided.
Work with inside project managers to obtain information required to proceed with detailed design development.
Complete field checks and assist with building scans and surveys.
Utilize 3D design software and other applications to design and digitally fit seating platforms into the building space.
Produce part drawings, instructions and other data required to manufacture and install the components of the seating solution into the final site configurations.
Prototype, test and validate new designs.Provide guidance during the manufacturing process of custom designs.
Provide technical support to installers.
Support corporate goal for continuous improvement bringing new ideas to reduce waste.
COMPETENCIES:
(Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
Proficient with 3D parametric modeling of parts and large assemblies.
Design experience with sheet metal fabrication, structural steel, Aluminum, welding, and wood.
Mechanical aptitude – fasteners, machine design, hydraulics.
Experience with quick turn-around prototyping and testing.
Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, and mechanical prints.
Demonstrated project management skills. Ability to plan, set priorities, and carry-out detail-oriented work to achieve project deliverables.
Ability to work collaboratively with others in a team environment.
Ability to work hands on in the lab and in the field.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
An associate degree in engineering technology with five plus years of design experience is ideal. Non-degreed candidates with five plus years of suitable experience will be considered.
Experience with Autodesk Inventor or similar.
Experience with 2D AutoCad.
Experience with ERP, PDM, and PLM systems.
Proficient with MS Office suite.
Open to occasional, short duration travel.
