Job Summary/Basic Function
The College of Behavioral and Health Sciences Advisors will work with students majoring in Psychology, Criminal Justice, Nursing, Health & Human Performance, Human Sciences and Social Work.
The primary role of an advisor is to provide educational guidance and assistance for students by planning schedules, recommending courses and determining appropriate education solutions for different types of students.
Advisors will monitor student progression and intervene as necessary to ensure students stay on track for graduation.The advisor is responsible for the retention of the students assigned to them and will have regular contact with students to ensure they are aware of available interventions that could help them succeed.
This position will be responsible for maintaining accurate student records using internal student tracking software to support the retention strategies and evaluate student progress and satisfaction.
The Advisor will perform related tasks and special projects as assigned.Note:
a flexible work schedule is required to accommodate student requests for advising after traditional work hours.
Required Education
Master's degree in areas related to behavioral, health and human sciences
Note:
A Bachelor's degree in areas related to behavioral, health and human sciences plus three (3) years of directly related experience may be considered in lieu of a Master's degree.
Required Related ExperienceNo experience required with Master's degree
Desirable Related Experience
Two (2) years' progressively responsible experience working with college students or young adults in an advising or career services counseling area in a college or university setting preferred.
