Job Description
Job DescriptionSUMMARY: Finish carpenters build and repair structures and elements within structures primarily using wood and metal. Journeyman carpenters work mostly daytime weekday shifts, but evening, weekend, and on-call hours are sometimes required. Travel is frequently required for this job, as journeyman carpenters go to and from supply houses, job sites, and the company shop. Carpenters work in a team environment while reporting to a supervisor.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· PERFORM CARPENTRY WORK: Install foundations, walls, floors, ceilings and roofs using materials such as wood, concrete, steel, metal and composites of multiple materials. Fit and install window frames, doors and door frames, door hardware, cabinets, exterior siding, stairs, interior and exterior trim. Hang drywall, install floor coverings, and floor base.
Perform basic layout to place work in proper location based on provided information.
Effectively and safely utilize hand tools, power tools, ladders, scaffold, power lifts (i.e., scissor lifts, boom lifts, etc.), rigging and other equipment necessary to complete the task safely. MarketOne Builders, Inc. requires verified training cards/certificates for high-risk equipment, tools, and access structures.
· FOLLOWS SAFETY STANDARDS: Operate and perform duties with safety as the foremost priority. Participate in meetings/discussions prior to beginning of shift or task for Job Hazard Analysis and/or Pre-Task Plan to discuss hazards and risk of a given task or job. Keep work area clean and organized. Watch out and speak out – watch out for unsafe conditions and speak up to get them corrected. Report all safety incidents, unsafe conditions and near miss incidents. All employees are expected to be an ambassador for MarketOne Builders' Safety Program.
· READ PLANS: Journeyman carpenters must be able to read and interpret plans, blueprints, specifications, SDS (safety data sheets), operating and maintenance instructions and manuals.
· LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to speak effectively in one-on-one situations with management and employees.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. · EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Journeyman, 5 years progressive experience.
· MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
· REASONING ABILITY: Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written and oral form.
· CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Valid driver's license and good DMV record to operate vehicle on company's behalf. OSHA-30 certified.
· OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: Recognized as a self-starter and ability to meet deadlines. Ability to work well with others and achieve team goals. Highly dependable with excellent organizational and time management skills. Demonstrates and understanding of building processes and systems. Ability to identify and resolve complex issue.

The employee occasionally is required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and to walk up to 1⁄2 mile daily. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.

REQUIRED TOOLS (CARPENTER)
As a carpenter working for MarketOne Builders you are required to bring tools to perform your work each day. It is your individual responsibility to procure and maintain these tools.
REQUIRED TOOLS: Tool bags, Nail Puller/Pry Bar,Speed Square,Chalk Line with Chalk, Utility Knife with Blades, Torpedo Level, 2' and 4' Level , Tin Snips, Hammer, Chisel, Tape Measure, Screwdrivers, Pencil.
Salary Range: $26.00/hr - $36.00/hr.
