Job summary
The University of Iowa Health Care Department of Nursing is seeking Patient Care Technicians to perform specific tasks to assist members of the Nursing team in providing patient care under the direct supervision of Registered Nurses.This unit features 30 private patient rooms and is designed to care for patients admitted to UI Health Care under observation or recovery level of care,
Patient diagnoses frequently treated as medical observation include but are not limited to chest pain, abdominal pain, back pain, and syncope.
We rely on teamwork to provide high quality and compassionate care as we provide patients the necessary care and education for them to make a safe transition home following their short stay in the hospital.
Responsibilities
- Independently obtain and record vital signs including temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure.
- Carries out medical asepsis when performing skills and tasks including but not limited to phlebotomy,
- Serves drinking water nourishments records patients intake turns positions ambulates transports patients equipment specimens supplies feeds assists with bedpans urinals records output participates in nursing conferences shares responsibility preparation proper use cleaning neatness cleanliness unit cleans areas demonstrating proper use approved disinfectants products housekeeping equipment stock supply patient rooms units
