    SUMMARY

    Provides technical leadership, conducts design activities and analytical studies on new product design proposals to develop design and product definition for new products and product families.

    Primary activities center around the design, validation, and justification of the full design definition for a product or technology.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Manages R&D and new product development projects from concept development to design/product definition, verification and validation
    Be responsible for technical design activities within the scope of a R&D project. Interface with the project leader and project team, manufacturing plant representatives, test laboratory, and other organizations
    Coordinate or support project planning activities for schedule, resources and cost
    Coordinate or support project, product (such as Design for Cost), and manufacturing cost analysis
    Conduct Functional and Requirements Analysis, FMEA and project risk analysis, and build product specifications.
    Analyze research data and proposed product specifications to help determine feasibility of product proposal.
    Perform R&D functions in selecting new applications, materials, manufacturing methods, finishes etc.
    Perform analytical mechanical calculation (stresses, strain, failure, deformation...)
    Help to coordinate manufacturing and validation of prototype product.
    Plan and develop experimental test programs.
    Analyze test data and reports to determine if design meets functional and performance specifications.
    Technical Support duties and responsibilities to other organizations
    Provide support to manufacturing plant activities, which may include product qualification, problem solving analysis, stack up analysis, documentation updates and other communications
    Interacts and assists general product engineering in development and qualification of "me too" products.
    Confers with research personnel to clarify or resolve problems and develops design.
    Interacts with customers, participates and assists customers in issuing new standards for developed new products.
    Assists in answering to customer Requests for Information, proposals or technical meetings.
    Update legacy drawings and specifications for aerospace components
    Interacts with the FEA simulation team for digital prototypes and digital mechanical testing
    General responsibilities and duties
    Prepares or

    coordinates

    preparation of product or system layout and detailed drawings.
    Participates in patent and licensing activities.
    Uses computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform R&D, engineering and design tasks.
    Participates in development and evolution of Design group procedures.
    Be part and participate to the design expertise network within Lisi
    Ensures new product development is conducted taking into consideration the best environmental practices and alternatives. Considering every aspect of the newly developed product including manufacturing methods, materials, and disposal

    with minimal or no impact on environment .
    Implements and suggests waste elimination initiatives specifically related to the function and department such as recycling opportunities and elimination of paper waste
    Other duties assigned.

    ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS SKILLS AND ABILITIES
    Education and/or Experience
    B.S.

    Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from a four year college or technical school or equivalent combination of experience or related education.

    Over 5 years related experience and/or training is required.
    Basic Qualifications
    Proficient with 3D modeling in CAD System (SolidWorks is preferred)
    Proficient with GD&T
    Self-motivated team player with strong desire to learn and ability to handle multiple projects and tasks concurrently and with minimal guidance
    Engineering experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus
    Additional Qualifications
    Project management experience on large scale projects is a plus.
    Design experience for plastic injection molded parts and assemblies a plus.
    Design experience in panel fasteners is a plus
    Language Skills
    Ability to read, analyze and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write appropriate and meaningful reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.

    The ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public is essential.

    Mathematical Skills

    Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume strengths (tensile, shear, etc.).

    Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
    Computer Skills

    To perform this job successfully, an individual should have at least working knowledge of the following software: ERP Database, Internet, Inventory, AutoCAD, Solid Works, Microsoft Office PowerPoint, Excel, Word and Project.

    Reasoning Ability
    Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
