Description

Under general supervision and according to established procedures, performs necessary painting, and refinishing of interior and exterior building surfaces and furnishings.

In doing so, smooths surfaces, fills holes and cracks and applies coats of paint, varnish, stains, wall coverings and the like, using such equipment as paint, brushes, rollers and scrapers.

Job Specific Responsibilities:

• Demonstrates the ability to repair building structure, partitions, doors, windows, furniture, walls, floors, ceilings, etc.
• Regularly prepares surfaces for painting by sanding, brushing, cleaning or by using scrapers or grinders.

Always chooses most appropriate method.

• Paints all surfaces using brushes, rollers and guns according to established trade practices.
• Always removes all equipment at end of job to ensure safety of patients, visitors and staff.
• Regularly demonstrates the ability to install vinyl, paper and print wall coverings.
• Demonstrates the ability to work alone in any of various medical center locations by completing assigned tasks with no supervision.
• Regularly prepares areas for paint by installing and finishing wallboard by filling, sanding, priming, etc.
• Always responds to emergency codes as required.
• Demonstrates the ability to perform duties that vary frequently according to assignments.
• Always performs work in a professional manner and according to established trade practices.
• Routinely maintains inventory of needed supplies.
• Demonstrates an ability to communicate effective and express information clearly; actively listens and always follows appropriate channels of communication.

QualificationsGood interpersonal, written and verbal communication and analytical skills. Knowledge of painting, basic masonry, and paper hanging techniques, and good color perception required2 years related experience requiredGraduate of High School or Equivalent or Vocational school is preferred
