Incumbent plans, directs, and manages the Outdoor Adventure Program. Responsible for planning, scheduling, developing and arranging support services for ongoing outdoor adventure programs/activities on base and off base for Airmen and families to include, but not limited to: snow-skiing, water-skiing, wilderness backpacking, hiking, camping, mountain biking/cycling, white water rafting, rock climbing, high ropes courses, sky diving, scuba diving, bungee jumping, hot air balloon rides, etc. Responsible for ensuring the programs/activities are carried out safely and without any problems. Provides instruction on different programs/activities; although instruction may be provided by an instructor with specific specialized training. Sets bindings on rental and customer skis and snowboards. Enforces safety policies and procedures. Develops and writes articles to be published explaining outdoor adventure programs and specific programs/activities. Briefs outdoor adventure programs at various functions on base, i.e... squadron commander calls, etc. Receives and resolves customer complaints and requests for special programs/activities. Operates RecTrac POS system, cash register, VeriFone, rings up sales, receives money and makes change. Responsible for preparing financial paperwork to include budgets, reports, and R4R programming and reports to the Outdoor Recreation Director. Drives 15 passenger van or bus to and from various outdoor adventure programs both on and off the installation. Performs other related duties as assigned to include checking equipment out and checking equipment in. Works uncommon tour of duty to include, days, nights and weekends.
This is a designated drug testing position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.
Qualifying Experience:
Must have experience which provided a working familiarity with the routines and procedures followed in group activities or programs. In addition must have or able to learn/gain experience working in an outdoor adventure recreational activity to include knowledge of equipment, rules and procedures in that area. Must have or able to learn/gain experience and training on setting of snow skis and snowboards. Must be able to read, write and speak English. Must have the ability to guide and teach customers the skill and techniques for various outdoor adventure recreational activities. Must have a valid NM drivers license or ability to obtain this license within six months from date of hire. Must have knowledge of defensive driving techniques, including skill to recognize developing hazardous road and traffic conditions and the judgment to select alternate routs to avoid potential problems.
Must be able to satisfactorily complete a Tier One security investigation.

Education
