    Summary Description:

    The Clinician will work as part of a multidisciplinary team in the Article 32 outpatient substance use treatment program, licensed by the Office of Addiction Services and Supports (OASAS), which is part of MHA's Comprehensive Care Center. The Clinician is responsible for the provision of direct outpatient clinical services and coordination of care with other involved agencies. The Clinician provides assessment, individual, group and family counseling to those dealing with substance use and co-occurring disorders, utilizing an evidence-based and integrated treatment approach that emphasizes harm reduction, person-centered and strengths-based care.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Responsible for the provision of clinic-based clinical services which may include but are not limited to assessment and treatment planning, individual, family and group psychotherapy, crisis counseling, and community consultation and education.
    • Responsible for identifying case management needs of clients and coordinating with other community agencies to have these needs met.
    • Responsible for participation in in training programs as requested by the Partners in Clinic Director.
    • Responsible for following the established clinic policies and maintaining appropriate professional standards.
    • Provide treatment contacts in the community.
    • Providing crisis intervention as needed
    • Participating in community outreach and presentations as needed.
    • Maintaining up-to-date and complete case records, including documentation, and providing written reports and statistics as required.
    • Participating in weekly team meetings, consultations, and individual supervision.
    • Follow the established agency policies & procedures.
    • Maintain appropriate professional standards.
    • Provide 24-hour crisis intervention.

    Key Competencies:

    • Principles, practices, and methods of community mental health treatment including interviewing, assessment, marriage, family, child, and group counseling and crisis intervention.
    • Adult and/or child psychology, including development and psychopathology.
    • Applicable city, state and federal guidelines and laws affecting mental health treatment, services, and reporting procedures.
    • Characteristics and types of mental and emotional illness.
    • Principles of psychological growth and development.
    • Community mental health resources and services and other health, financial, social, recreational cultural, housing, and legal advocacy services.
    • Identifying the cultural problems affecting mental health practices.
    • Familiarity with and ability to use an Electronic Health Record system.

    Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

    • Evaluate the effectiveness and quality of home-based clinical services provided, including individual, family, and group psychotherapy.
    • Assess effectiveness in identifying and coordinating case management needs with other community agencies.
    • Monitor the frequency, response time, and effectiveness of crisis interventions.
    • Evaluate the participation in and impact of community outreach and educational activities.
    • Monitor the timeliness and accuracy of case records, reports, and statistics.
    • Track participation in training programs and adherence to clinic policies and professional standards.
    • Assess understanding and integration of cultural considerations in mental health practices.
    • Ensure adherence to city, state, and federal guidelines and laws affecting mental health services.

    Requirements:

    • Must hold one of the following New York State licenses: LMSW, LMHC, Psychologist or LCSW.
    • Basic Computer knowledge is required.
    • Must be reliable and able to work independently and understand the importance of maintaining confidentiality.
    • Must have a valid Driver's License and a driving record that is satisfactory to our insurance carrier.
    • Must maintain current New York State Defensive Driving certification.
    • Must be cleared by the NYS Justice Center through fingerprinting for a Criminal History Records search.
    • Must be cleared by the NYS Office of Children and Family Services for instances of child abuse and/or neglect.
    • Must be legally eligible to work in the United States.
